Update – Aiden

Just thought I would let you guys know..we took Aiden to see the pediatrician last week we noticed some swelling in his pelvis area (we have noticed it before and the dr said he had a hernia but a lot of babies get hernias but they correct themselves usually by a year) well she recommended we see a pediatric surgeon. The pediatric surgeon said he has a bilateral hernia and needs to have surgery to correct it that it wont correct on its own and this could be causing a lot of extra reflux, pain, etc. So this may help him be less miserable. Jsut thought I would share this info just in case any of you have boys and notice any swelling in the pelvic reigion. Keep an eye out, I guess its common.

I’m sorry to hear that Aiden has hernias. Bryce had this too, and had surgery when he was 4 months old to correct it. Bryce also had one on each side, but only one was visible. They actually found the other hernia during surgery.

good luck with the surgery… though i wouldnt worry too much, because you are right it is common… my baby cousin had it done when he was 1 as well. just wondering was aiden in any kind of pain from it? my cousin was. i know you said it causes extra reflux pain.. but was he crying A LOT more than normal? or is it something that they dont really feel.. and you have to look for?? i want to be on the look out 😉

but i wish you guys the best again! and after surgery he will feel so much better!

Poor Aiden and mommy. Some of these things are a double edged sword…it is good news because you have found it and it can be treated and is likely to help, but bad news in that you have to worry about surgery– what mummy wouldn’t (even though she knows everything will be fine).

I hope that his surgery goes well and he feels much better afterwards.

Aiden does cry a lot and now that he is getting bigger he actually grabs towards his pelvic reigion. He is definatly in pain. So hopefully this will help things.
