February 3, 2006 at 9:03 pm #677AnonymousInactiveThe Miralax could just solve the problem too. Hailey’s Ped GI said that frequently kids have stool stuck in their bowels. He wanted her to have an abdominal x-ray to see how much stool was in there but we opted to do the treatment instead which was Miralax. Get ready for lots of pooping! It’s unbelieveable how much poop will start coming out!
February 3, 2006 at 9:05 pm #678AnonymousInactiveFYI…that dose of Miralax sounds really low. If you don’t see results, you might ask if you can up the dose.
February 3, 2006 at 9:06 pm #679AnonymousInactiveKaren, so sorry to heat that Marisa is having such problems. I hope that it turns out to be nothing. I really think that the constipation can be so terribly uncomfortable for them. Please keep us posted.
She’ll probably feel so much better after the miralax cleans her out!
February 4, 2006 at 7:51 am #698AnonymousInactiveThanks guys. I really think something may be going on in there – i
mean, they’ve cleaned her out with enemas before and it just comes
back. In some ways, seems like it might even be the main problem, with
reflux secondary. So hopefully the Miralax cleans her out (and thanks
Stacey – will ask for higher dose if necessary) and they get it figured
out.February 4, 2006 at 9:29 am #705AnonymousInactiveKaren
I hope they find out what is going on with her!!
February 4, 2006 at 11:10 am #721AnonymousInactivePoor Marisa! When does she get a break from all of this? I hope they figure out what is causing this constipation soon. That has to be so uncomfortable for her! Please keep us posted on her situation!
February 4, 2006 at 11:38 am #724AnonymousInactiveKaren, the more I read all of your recent posts, the more I’m tempted to say that you should ask to see an allergist if next week’s tests don’t show anything. It might not do any good, but it seems like it’s worth a shot. Her rash is in exactly the same places that Kaelyn’s was. Just as you described in one of your other posts, the rash would seem to improve or go away and we’d think that it was improving, then it would come back again. The red rings around her eyes were also the same as you described. Kaelyn also had constipation issues (although not anywhere near as extreme as Marisa’s). Now that we’ve removed all traces of dairy (I hope) from her diet, she rarely has issues with constipation.
February 4, 2006 at 12:54 pm #731AnonymousInactiveThanks Kim. I think you’re right. If next week’s tests don’t show
anything we will definitely ask for a referral to an allergist. I guess
what confuses us is that she was uncomfortable and gassy and very
constipated on the Neocate too though.knb182006-2-4 12:55:49
February 5, 2006 at 7:39 am #789AnonymousInactiveHi Karen-
I’m so happy for you that they’re getting you some tests-hopefully they will show an easy to solve issue and get Marisa back to feeling better! What are they doing – ultrasounds? Would be curious because Ian’s problems with eating were similar but he doesn’t have hard stools-although it has been 4 days and counting now…
How’s she doing now? Did the Miralax get her some relief? Eating any better? How about the rash?
Tracy (Ian’s mom 9-26-05)
February 5, 2006 at 8:03 am #791AnonymousInactiveI’m not sure yet what they are doing – Ped is speaking with some
specialists and letting me know tomorrow – possibly upper GI series,
possibly ultrasound or some other imaging tests. If nothing, possibly
colonoscopy. So far nothing but a small brick on the Miralax but just
gave it to her again so hoping she gets some relief today.Eating about the same – tummy cramps because of all the food stuck in there – rash about the same or maybe slightly better.
How is Ian feeling?

February 5, 2006 at 7:01 pm #850AnonymousInactiveSmall brick-my gosh!? It’s amazing that her spirits are staying so high. Glad to hear the rash is better.
Ian on the positive side-is the happiest baby in the world, but for the last week. he’s only been eating the smallest amounts. Today it has turned around and his appetite is back. However, he’s doing this weird vomiting thing right after eating. It only happens once and it’s projectile and its plentiful. But like I said-couldn’t be happier. Am calling ped tomorrow. Good news is that his sucking seems to have matured and he’s taken all of his bottles without ST today. Am crossing fingers that continues. He also had two big poops today and seems relieved.
Big hugs.
Tracy
February 6, 2006 at 6:34 am #878AnonymousInactiveYesterday she had two big soft BMs on the Miralax – although it did
make her crampy too. But at least she got a lot out – there must be a
ton in there! So glad that Ian is happy and his appetite is back – odd with the
vomiting though. Let me know what your Ped says – your new GI appt is
Friday – right?February 6, 2006 at 12:26 pm #915AnonymousInactiveYes, vomiting thing is very strange. Only once and it’s immediately after eating. But doesn’t bother him. He just smiles away. Appetite was back up to 24oz yesterday. I was more worried about his lack of eating last week then the vomiting issue. As long as he’s laughing with no other symptoms-couldn’t be that bad, right?
Have you heard about from the doctor yet? Any word on the tests?
Tracy
February 6, 2006 at 12:53 pm #917AnonymousInactiveWe have a barium enema study scheduled for Friday – will post more details in new thread.
I would think not too much to worry about if Ian is smiling and has an appetite but good just to let your doctor know.
