InactiveWe are going to see his ped tomorrow so we might have more info later, but I will tell you where we are right now. The things I thought were seizures might actually be tremours. I did some research and many moms have babies who have tremours that start at 4 1/2 to 6 months. Apparently it is when they are eating or when they are playing. Justice’s have been when he is eating. They say that he will outgrow it. Who knows. He had more today than usual. Usually it is only one or two a day, but today it was 3. The last one today lasted longer than usual and was a lot more scary than usual. I have no idea what is going on. He is still not sleeping well. UGH!!!!!!!!! If only I could have a baby that would actually sleep. Oh well, what can you do? I will let you all know when I find out something else.

Inactiveim so sorry you are going through this. do the tremours you think he is having seem to bother him? are you getting any testing to rule out seizures?
good luck.October 2, 2006 at 7:35 pm #14768Anonymous
InactiveToday it did seem to bother him. It has never seemed to bother him before though. Today I actually tryed to see if I could get him to stop by saying his name loudly. He couldn’t stop, but his eyes did open and they looked normal. Well, kind of. They weren’t rolled back or anything, but he looked kind of dazed.
I will do testing if that is what our ped. thinks we should do. I would like to rule out seizures, but I don’t know if it is necessary. As far as his sleep. I would still like to do a sleep study. I am going to try to tape him tonight so our ped. can see what is going on. Cross your fingers that all will be like usual tonight so I can get it on tape. I tryed last night, but he really didn’t sleep more than 3 hours last night. I think he might be sick. Who knows? I am such a confused mom.

InactiveGood luck, Shelby. I will be thinking of you. I think that’s a good idea to try and tape him to show the doc. I think a sleep study is a good idea, too. I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. Keep us posted.

InactiveGood luck with your appointment Shelby. Let us know what you find out. It must be scary – especially the not knowing. I hope you can find some answers. I’ll be praying for you.

InactiveGood luck with the apt. Make sure you get the tremors on tape too. When we had our neuro consult the first thing he asked was if I had any tape of the specific behavior. Sebastian’s only last for a few seconds and he is always on the go, so it was really hard to get it on tape.
I hope they are able to put you mind at ease and help poor little justice get some sleep. By the way, those little cheeks are just way too cute! You must be kissing them all the time!!

InactiveGood luck with the appointment. Ditto on the cheeks Katey – I keep trying to squeeze my computer screen everytime I see his little picture. Maybe he knows how absolutely adorable he is and is staying awake so you can enjoy his cuteness more
(it souinds good anyway). He deserves a break and so do you. Hope you get some answers today.Robin

InactiveGood luck with the appointment Shelby. How did the doc diagnose the tremors vs. Sandifer’s vs. seizures? Did he see Justice doing them? I would consider asking for an EEG if for no other reason then to give you some peace of mind. Both my kids had them done, and it’s a fairly easy test. I know that I felt better after doing it b/c I didn’t have to worry anymore about what ifs.
As for the sleep, I hear you in that department, but it’s still worth it. Good luck. Please keep us posted. I’ll be thinking of you guys.

InactiveWe went to the ped. today and explained all that is going on with Justice’s sleep and also with his episodes. She said it possibly sounds like what her daughter had. Her daughter had infant spasams. I think that is what she called it. Her daughter had to have part of her brain removed. So, it sounds very scary, but I have peace about the whole thing. I hope that won’t be it, but she reallly wants us to have an eeg done and she is also setting up an appt. with a nurolist (sp) just in case something does show on the eeg. I just ask that those of you that pray to please pray for us. Like I said I have peace about it, but would love the prayers anyway. I’m sure I will be on here again in no time telling you all that it is nothing. Let’s hope.
Thank you all for your responses.

InactiveShelby, I am so sorry to hear that is what your doctor told you. What I would say, is that I really would try not to worry until you’ve had the EEG done. I do know that infantile spasms have a characteristic motion known as jack-knifing where the baby tends to bend at the torso, not usually just movement of the head or an arm like you describe.
Also, has Justice been on track in terms of development? When Hailey’s Sandifer’s was undiagnosed, I mentioned to my ped that I was concerned about infantile spasms, since a mom on this site had just had her son diagnosed. He told me that he was not at all concerned about this, because even though infantile spasms usually emerge between 3-6 months of age, severe developmental delays are usually noted much earlier when babies just don’t meet their developmental milestones such as holding up their heads, or their trunks, smiling etc.
I really hope that you’re just dealing with Sandifer’s and that the sleep problems are reflux related. What you describe sleep-wise sounds so much like Hailey was back then. I hate that you are having to worry probably for nothing. (Though you know my mantra, that I always think it’s better safe than sorry).
Again, I’m so sorry that you are having to worry about this, especially since your doctor is yet to see the movement that you’re concerned about. I would still try to capture it on video so that you can show the neurologist, and perhaps he can put your mind at ease even before the EEG. When is your appointment?
I’ll be thinking of you and praying for Justice.

InactiveOkay, so I am trying to tape Justice sleeping to show you guys to see if it looks familar or you have any suggestions. The problem is I have no idea how to post a video. Anyone know?
I was up with him a lot last night and it looks like he is startling himself awake. I just don’t get it. He used to be swaddled, but that didn’t help either. I can’t tell if his head is moving from the tremours. I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!! I’m trying to not worry so much about the sleeping right now, but our ped wanted me to tape him. It is so hard not to obsese about it when you watch him all night long trying to figure out what in the world is going on. If it is startling this should have gone away by now right?
