VERY slow hair growth…something to worry about?

Ariella’s hair grows very very slowly. Her peers have long hair and need bows and clips to keep it from their eyes but her hair’s so short that it doesn’t even touch her forehead. It’s curly but short. Could it be b/c it’s curly and doesn’t appear long or is she lacking vitamins? Her nails, on the other hand, I have to trim twice a week.

hmm …is it any longer when its wet?? it could be it looks shorter cuz its curly.. But i don’t think its any concern.. my sister was BALD until she was two! well not bald..kinda like a peach fuzz 😉

I would worry.. you could always ask her ped. when you go for her next visit..if a certain vitamin would help.. but i think she is getting it all from her formula still right? I do give shane a multi-vitamin..so maybe you might want to try that if you are really concerned. I know when i was pregnant the multi really helped my hair/nails grow. But since her nails are growing fine.. then it probably isnt related to a vitamin deficiency.

I’ve known a few toddlers who were nearly bald until they were 2 or even older, so I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s probably genetic.

I wouldn’t be too concerned. Babies all grow hair at different rates. I also bet that since it is curly that it is really longer than you think.

Lauren, it is longer when it’s wet.

Christine, DH and I both had heads full of hair by the time we were her age.

Alex still has very little hair and Kaelyn was around 2 before she needed a haircut, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I wouldn’t worry. Brianna is 20 months and her hair still looks boy short. It just happens sometimes.

My neice was bald until she was 3 and now she has the most beautiful hair.

Both girls very bald just like Daddy! Alexis really did not grow hair until 2 years old and to this day curly and very thin! Taylor a lot of peach fuzz! Curly in the back but not much else! I have very thick hair and enough to supply my entire family with no to little hair! I swear if I took all the hair I lose in a day I could make a little wig for Taylor!!
