InactiveSince Noah is just a skinny little thing, I have the HARDEST time trying to find pants that fit him around the waist. He needs 18 month for length, but 12 month for width. Some 12 month waist bands are even to big. I dont like using big safety pins to gather the waist so I have a whole drawer full of pants he cant wear. I’ve searched the internet, but I guess I’m not putting in the right search words, but I’m looking for some kind of contraption that will cinch his waist band. Has anyone ever seen such a thing or do you have any other ideas on how to make the waist smaller so he can wear his pants?

InactiveThis is where my english is not good enough… there is no way i can explain this but tons of pants that we buy for Matthew have a buil in elastic band on both sides and a button (in the inside). the elastic usually ahs three holes and you can put the elastic band in any of the holes to make it smaller or bigger. Does this make sense? I cna post a picture if you want. It is probably not difficult to do

InactiveHi Lisa,
I know Noah is 5 months older, but Ian is somewhat similar in size because he’s super tall (off the charts at 33 3/4 in), but he’s at a 12month size (which is his actual age) for width. We have the same problem but the pants from Gymboree usually run pretty small so I buy the 12-18 month size and they’re very snug. Maybe buy a pair on sale and give it a try?? Or maybe you’ve tried already…
Good luck!

InactiveI think someone else posted once that pants with adjustable waistbands are sold by Old Navy. I saw them there last week in bigger sizes, but I’m sure they have them in toddler sizes, too. I think that may be what Thais is describing.

InactiveMy sister’s little boy is the same way, they make their own “adjustable waist” pants by sewing a piece of elastic on the inside of the top. It’s the same concept as the old nave pants but they do it to all of his.

InactiveYou can also get the “pregnancy” waistbands (as I call them) at Gap kids here… not in all the pants, but in some if you check them out. Like others said, also at old navy, but again, not in all the pants.

InactiveI think that most of the Old Navy and Gap pants start with the adjustable waist at 2T (sorry, I’m sure that’s not what you wanted to hear.) However, I know that we found some that were similar before she was in a 2T. I like the idea of sewing a piece of elastic inside the waistband. I never thought of that!

InactiveI haven’t seen them, but I read a post about adjustable pants at Target for really cheap. Like 10 bucks maybe? and cute too.
Gotta love Target!

InactiveThanks everyone for your ideas. I’m going to check out Old Navy this weekend and maybe get a couple pair of pants there. I hate to buy clothes though because I have TONS of clothes from when my other two were little. Lots of them were barely worn and are in great shape. Its just the waist I have issues with. I think for those, I’m going to try the idea about sewing a piece of elastic into the inside of the waist band. I’m not Martha Stewart by any means, but I’ll give it a try! I’m also going to buy one of those tinybigs too.
Thanks again!!
