Weird question…sorry if TMI

I am going to place a call to Sarah’s ped. tomorrow but I figured I’d ask my more knowledgeable (and underpaid!) team of “doctors” on this forum for your opinion…

Last month Sarah had a diarrhea virus that lasted several days and wound up being passed all around daycare. One of the little girls who caught the virus had swollen female parts for a day during her stint with the virus. It seems like Sarah may have the virus AGAIN b/c her diapers have been loose and are causing the same nasty diaper rash she had before. The sitter and I had chalked the loose diapers up to her new molars breaking through UNTIL Sarah’s lower regions became swollen today. WEIRD! Sorry if TMI, but the swollen area is not inside the labia or anything…it’s more on the top/front area where pubic hair will eventually grow. Hope that makes sense. It just seems puffy/swollen. It didn’t seem TOO bad when I finally got a chance to look at it after school today but I’ve never heard of a diarrhea virus that can cause swelling down under?????

Anyone ever heard of anything like this???

Hey Amy.. I am not much help since I have a boy.. but just wanted to say sorry for all the tummy virus’ she keeps getting!!poor baby!! I also think it would probaby be red if it got irritated at all from the acid/diarrhea.. that is why it might not be on the inside parts? just guessing here…

Hope she feels better.. and gets a good long break from it!!!

I would also think maybe just irritation b/c of diarrhea, but you know I only have 2 boys also so I have no clue!

Just wanted to say cute new pic, I know you always say Sarah isn’t photogenic, but I think she’s growing into her little girlness! I got a new computer and I’m sooooooo excited cause I can actually read things on the screen and see everyone’s pics!

I’ve seen red/inflammed labia and vulva, but never where you’re describing. I’ve always attributed the redness/inflammation to the acidity of the diarrhea in the diaper. I would definitely show it to the ped.

But for what it’s worth, I thought all baby girls were “puffy” in the area you’re describing, especially if they’re chubby. Hope she’s feeling better soon.

Dont’ have a clue either.. is it the same area that was swollen on the other little girl? Maybe it is an infected gland??? Or a swollen one, like you can get in your neck when your sick??? Let us know what you find out.
