InactiveI’ve posted a bit ago about my 16 mth old son not eating. We are going on 2 weeks of this now. He’s really happy and not cranky or lathargic. So, I haven’t called any of his docs. He seems to be having eating issues. He will only snack on things that I put out on the coffee table for him. When I try to put him in his highchair, he freaks!!!
So, esentially, I’ve been trying to get the food in any way possible. It sometimes works to use “grown-up” silver ware. Or to feed him while he’s standing or on my lap. Basicaly, I’ve been trying to “trick” him into eating food.
What is this all about??? Does anyone have any clue? Is it something I’m doing to cause this reaction? How long can he go with only eating snacks? I’m sure he’s not getting the nutrients he should, but I do give him pediasure to help with that.
He could be cutting a tooth, but for 2 weeks?

InactiveColt is the same age as your son and he hates his high chair. We have been feeding him whatever we are eating and we just let him walk around while he is eating. He will walk all the way around the kitchen and then come and get another bite. I figure its less stress on the whole family and it makes him happy enough to eat. With these kids you just do what you have to.

InactiveAround that age Kaelyn freaked out about her high chair and would refuse to eat in it – usually throwing everything on the floor. I pulled out her booster chair which made it a lot easier to sit at the table with us and she would happily eat in it. She has also gone through several “no eating” stages. Every time I would start to worry about her she’d start eating again.

InactiveThe booster chair at the table sounds like a good idea. Myles loves it already when we let him sit in a booster at a restaurant.
I’d make sure his snacks are not interfering with his appetite. Is he eating a lot of crackers, gold fish, pretzels, or other high carbohydrate type foods?

InactiveThanks for responding girls

With Henry being on such a limited diet, it’s hard for him to eat with us. We do have a booster seat for him though. I’ve been meaning to try it.
As for the snacks, with his limited diet, he only has a few things that he can eat. Usually rice cakes. I only give the snacks to him when he refuses to eat his normal food. Today he completely refused to even try his breakfast. I had to trick him into trying it and then he got really mad. This was unusual since he ate hardly anything yesterday. I was thinking he’d be really hungry this morning. Guess I was wrong! So I figure the snacks are better than nothing???
It only worries me when he goes this long without eating his usual amounts. almost 2 weeks. But, at least he’s eating something.

InactiveI’m sure it’s not the snacks if he’s eating rice cakes. Not many calories there.
I wish I had some advice. I hope he starts eating better soon.
