InactiveMy boys are 2 years apart and they fight all the time. They rarley ever get along. Is this normal? Is there something I can do to stop them from fighting so much? It is mainly my 3 yr old Luke hitting on and pushing around Justice. It is driving me crazy and makes me mad. Everyone told me how close they would be being two years apart, but they can’t stand each other. Well, correction Luke can’t stand Justice. Justice thinks Luke is the best. HELP!

InactiveThe fighting goes on in our home as well! Taylor adores Alexis and wants to be involved in everything that Alexis is doing but of course she is only 1 years old and Alexis is 3 y/o so there is so much she can handle of her little sister. Alexis does adore Taylor, always wants to know where she is, and what she is doing, always wants to dress like Taylor does enjoy playing with her but really does not want to share anything with her. I guess they just have their moments, but I too am just stunned that a 3 y/o and a 1 y/o can fight so much already!!

InactiveWe’re in the same boat here. Isaac and Parker are about 2 years apart and they’re constantly fighting. There’s especially a lot of Isaac picking on Parker, but it does go both ways. I get so tired of the constant bickering, screaming, & tattling. They can play so well together, and have so much fun together, but that never seems to last long.
Sorry, I have no advice. I’m right there with you!

InactiveI think it’s pretty normal. I remember one pediatrician on a talk show describing how a new sibling changes a first born’s life. He said you should imagine your husband telling you that a new woman is moving in and you are going to have to share your clothes, your toys, and time with him!!.

Some things that help; time for the older child to be alone with mommy, special “big boy” toy or item that he does not have to share, special chores or ways to help mommy that only big boys can do, etc.

InactiveThanks ladies. I was starting to feel like I was doing something wrong. I know it’s hard for Luke because he got all of my time before Justice came along. Of course, the reflux didn’t help either. It is so hard because Luke is so tempermental. I can come up with something that Luke and I are going to do together just the two of us and depending on his mood he may not want to do it. It is so easy with Justice. He loves to cuddle and try to make me laugh. Hopefully it will get easier. It makes me feel much better knowing that I’m not alone. Boy being a mom is not easy.

InactiveThis is just to help you and hopefully make you feel better. My boys are two years apart 16 and 14 and it gets better. I can remember when they were that young and they would fight all the time and then around 4 and 2 they just stopped and if anything they have became overly protective of each other. So here’s hoping it gets better soon.

InactiveTake heart in knowing you’re not alone! This just started going on around here over the past few weeks. Sarah LOVES Hailey, wants to play with her etc. But lately, she’s been taunting and teasing her just to get her to cry. I’ve caughter her tickling Hailey while Hailey was screaming “NO NO NO”, taking toys away from her and then holding them out of her reach, sitting in her chair just to get her to cry. It’s very mean and has been making me feel bad, but I figure it’s just a phase. Hopefully it won’t last long.

InactiveLori,
That sounds like Luke and Justice. We find Justice’s toys and things hidden all the time. Luke doesn’t want Justice to have anything. It really makes me sad. Thak you Kathleen. I do hope things will get better. I know it did for my nephews. They are best friends now. I just feel sometimes like I must be doing something wrong.
