So I have met with 2 Ped. GIs the 1st one not aggressive enough wanted to try Axid (we had already tried prevacid but only for a few days).
Then Tuesday we met with another Ped GI (one my GI recommended and I love my GI). He was nice and concerned and really listened (unlike the other one). He originally said I am happy with the meds she is on and wants Hailey to have a physical therapy and occupational therapy eval (she was born at 29 weeks 5 days) and will probably need this. He thinks she has a lot of under developed muscles and some sensory issue. Then if things didn’t get better he might try an NG tube for 24 hour a day feedings (why would you do this for a baby who is eating her food just having problems after). Then he left the room to do a write up and came back and said he wanted to put her on reglan. I said I really didn’t want to but he pushed it saying he doesn’t give out reglan very often but he is pretty sure by Hailey’s symptoms she has a gastric emptying problem.
His ideas seem crazy don’t they? I am totally find w/the PT and OT but not the other stuff. I did call the office back today and left a very nice message on his nurses answering machine about not giving reglan that we would be too scared. All I wanted was either a dif. form of prevacid or a different PPI and a higher dose.
