worse before it gets better?

so I’ve only been TEDing it for 4 or 5 days. It seems like Olsen’s stools have gotten worse! Before they were turning light green/yellow or yellow/brown, so I thought that maybe he was getting better. But now, they are DARK green and pretty gross. what’s going on? I feel a little discouraged by the whole thing.

My ds’s diapers got a lot worse within 4-5 days after initially starting TED. Eventually I realized it was b/c he was intolerant to both turkey & rice & I was eating a ton of both of those.

Frustrating I know…

If I were you I would continue the strict TED w/ the items you are currently eating for a full 2 weeks.

If after the 2wks you are still experiencing stinky gas & dark green, mucous stools I would start taking out 1 item @ a time for 4 days to see if there’s a change.

If @ any point the stinky gas stops I would continue the foods you’re eating @ that point for another week. Usually (in my experience) once the stinky gas stops the offender is out of his system but the damage in the colon is still being repaired – make sense?

Also, are you doing hemoccult tests? I would consider doing these @ home… I don’t have the link where I talk about it handy & I have to run, but will try to link it up later.

thanks for the advice. 🙂 We are doing the occult blood tests. I have to mail them back to our GI doctor. I got Olsen weighed today, and he gained 4 ounces this week, so I felt a little encouraged.

He is not on probiotics. I keep meaning to get some. Is there a brand you recommend? I also keep meaning to take digestive enzymes. Is there a brand you would recommend for those? I get overwhelmed with all the choices and want to make sure I get something that wouldn’t bother his food intolerances. thanks so much for the help!!!!

With the hemoccults it’s such a pain to have to mail them in. We started doing them w/ every diaper change @ home. Here’s a link to that info.

That’s great news that Olsen gained so well – good work mama!

The brand of probiotics we use are Klaire Labs Ther-biotic Infant formula. We order online from theapexstore.com but I think you need dr. authorization now to order from there (which isn’t a big deal if your ped is ok giving the authorization).

You can also contact Klaire Labs directly (Klaire Labs). I think you can call the order in & maybe order online (not sure about that though).
