InactiveAriella’s first tooth erupted yesterday. We were very excited to see that. Now a question to those who’ve been through it before. Does it get better with the reflux or do we have to go through it every time a new tooth erupts? Is the pain easier to handle? Thanks

InactiveCongratulations Ariella!

I think it just differs with babies. Ellie was a great teether. She’d just pop a tooth without much of a fuss, but my other two were both miserale teethers, and unfortunately it was the same with every single tooth.

InactiveWe increased Sarah’s zegerid dose slightly when she was getting her first tooth because she was MISERABLE. The 2nd one appeared about a week later and I didn’t even know it was coming until it was through! Her teeth have come in pairs (within a few days of eachother) and the first one of the pair is always rough and then the 2nd one is easier. Not sure why. She just erupted her first top tooth so I’m hoping the other top tooth is close behind and won’t cause any problems. Hope that helps!

InactiveThanks, Christine. I hope Ariella will not suffer as much any longer. It pains me to see her go through it. My poor baby, she starts screaming and right away puts her little fists in her mouth and starts chewing them.
Amy, I hope Ariella gets the other teeth quickly. Even though one of her bottoms teeth erupted, she was way too cranky today so Dh and I figured the other one is right behind (at least we hope so).

InactiveYou are so lucky to get this out of the way now. Gabby is just starting to get her first tooth. I know reflux is supposed to be worse between 4 – 6 months, but I assume that’s somewhat because of teething. Gabby is so uncomfortable now even with her high dose. Poor baby. She was eating well for a week on her new dose before the lil tooth started it’s way up. Hope things calm down for you soon.

InactiveYa for Ariella
. No longer a gummy bear. Hopefully the next ones will be pain and reflux free.Don’t worry Gabby, you little friend Alana is still a gummy bear. Although she would not under any circumstances open her mouth today (OK not quite true she would accept food
). Maybe she is hiding something it there???April 16, 2007 at 7:14 am #30628Anonymous
InactiveWOW! An early teether! Yay… best to get it out of the way, I think.
For Sarah, teething was nothing at all- you’d never even know anything was different. For Hailey, it was horrific, one tooth at a time. It did make the reflux worse- we increased her dose to about 42mg of prevacid, and also used benadryl and advil as needed (but she was a bit older- didn’t get her first tooth until over 10 months old).
Hope she has an easy time with it.

InactiveThanks everyone. We’re hoping she’ll have an easier time with the other teeth. When this one was erupting, she was arching her back a lot and spitting up again which we were very upset to see.

InactiveFunny you should say that, we just noticed Gabby is starting her second bottom tooth. I hope they continue to come in pairs so we get it done with.

InactiveIn our experience, the reflux is bad with every tooth.
CONGRATS on the new little toothy!!!

InactiveNow that she’s having teeth, we have another thing to worry about (don’t we always have SOMETHING to worry about???) Ariella falls asleep with the bottle at night but it’s once a day only. I’m very well aware of cavities (as I used to be a registered dental hygienist). I just don’t know how to retrain her to fall asleep without it. It’s just such a big issue her falling asleep on her own

InactiveWe worried about that with Kaelyn. Once we felt that her reflux was under control, we started trying to sleep train her around 9 or 10 months. It really didn’t take long at all to get her used to going to sleep without a bottle.
