InactiveI know it’s Thanksgiving, but we were up all night last night. I think it might be teething, but I’m just not sure. I tryed taking Justice off his meds 2 weeks ago. That lasted for 5 days before we put him back on. At day 5 he started to be very clingy and would squirm and cry at feeds. At day 5 1/2 I gave in and put him back on his meds. He has been back on his meds now for a little over a week, but he is still clingy, cranky, squirmy, and his spit up smells like vomit. Sorry I know that is gross and I can’t stand that word.
Anyway, we were up all night last night. Today as he was crying I was able to take a look in his mouth. I guess I should go back a step. He has his two front bottom teeth. When I was looking in his mouth I saw a knot on the top off to the side. I guess it would be not the front tooth, but the one beside it. I don’t ever remember seeing a knot like that for his other two. Basically what I am asking is does it sound like teething with all the things I described? To make things harder big brother is sick, so it is possible not likely to me, but possible he could be sick too. Of course, he’s not really showing signs of being sick. He is breast fed so I think it might be unlikely it’s that. As far as teething goes nothing I have tryed seems to work. If your babies were doing the same thing what would you think? By the way Happy Thanksgiving!November 23, 2006 at 2:06 pm #18840Anonymous
InactiveHmmm…it’s so hard to figure these things out. Is he normally a big spitter, or a silent refluxer?
If his spit up smells bad I would think it’s one of three things….1. a virus will make puke smell really bad, so he may be coming down with something, 2. It’s acid from reflux (meaning he’s still producing some acid since you restarted his meds, and he needs a little more time for things to be good again), or 3. the smell is from milk that’s been sitting in the stomach a long time (with my kids breast milk usually didn’t have much odor even when spit up hours later, so I think this is the least likley of the three possibilities).
I’m not sure about the “knot” on his gums. Is it white? Usually when my babies were teething I’d see a bright pinkish or white colored bump where the tooth was about to come in.
I hope he’s feeling better soon and you can all have a Happy Thanksgving!

InactiveWow, this post goes to show how tired I was this morning. He’s not spitting up at all. His breath smells like vomit. As far as the knot goes it is pink. I gave him some motrin a little while ago and he is now sleeping. Finally!!!!!! It is just weird if he is teething because that is a weird place for a third tooth to come in. I hate all this guessing.

InactiveI’m glad he’s feeling better. Not all babies follow the typical teething pattern….so it may be a little unusual for the lateral incisors to come in before the central incisors, but it does happen.
Does he still have stinky breath? Sometimes that can happen when they have a cold or a sinus infection, but it could still be some acid from his reflux. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

InactiveMy older son’s teeth came in all kinds of out of “order”, first he got one bottom tooth, them he got whatever the tooth is called that’s NEXT to the top front teeth, then his second bottom tooth, then the second tooth next to the top teeth, THEN his top teeth came in-LOL he looked like he was actually MISSING teeth til the top front ones came in!!! If he’s teething it really could be the reflux acting up-does he have silent reflux? When Aidan’s reflux gets bad (horrible now, he’s cutting the two top teeth at one time) his breath smells, and I’m pretty sure it’s b/c of the surge in refluxing.
BTW Justice’s new pic is adorable!!!!! Look at those cheeks!!! Love it!

InactiveActually his breath smells better. He is having a really hard time today though. He has been crying on and off all day long. I hope it is just a tooth and the thing comes in really soon. When will he be happy again? I hope to someday have a happy baby again. I just don’t know what to do for him when he is the way he was today.
Thank you about saying Justice is cute. I love seeing the pics of everyones baby. It makes it seem like you know everyone a little more. Of course, I think all of the babies are so cute and growing so quickly.

InactiveI hope he starts feeling better soon too. We were up all night again last night. I’m starting to wonder if he should be on some Zantac at night. Who knows? He’s almost nine months anyway.
