InactiveHi ladies,
I am sorry I haven’t been on much. I work the hours from hell during the week and spend my precious weekends with my babies and catching up on laundry and household chores. I need work/life balance…does that exist?

We saw a new GI yesterday and we like him much better. He was willing to do Zegerid, just not the 40mg packs. I could NOT explain to him that I wasn’t trying to DOSE Landen the entire 40mg dose, just that they would last me longer and contained less sodium bicarb. *sigh*. Anyway, we got the 20mg packs and he wants me to give Landen 10mg 2x daily. Is anyone using 20mg pkgs? I am worried about them upsetting his stomach since they have a high amount of bicarb in them and we are going to use the entire pk in 1 day KWIM? The disclaimer on Marci-kids talks about gas, vomiting, etc. Landen breaks out in sweats and bends and grunts for an hour JUST from the Prevacid solutabs, so his stomach is really sensitive to begin with.
Just wondered if there were any success stories with 20mgs?
Thanks in advance.

InactiveAddy’s on the 20 mg packets and has been since around 8 months…we tried the 40 mg ones at first and after a month, we couldn’t get the right mix of mylanta with it and it made her have very loose stools…we looked into using the dissovable tums instead but tried the 20’s and they worked just fine. Addy has a very sensitive tummy too and the sodium bicarb has never bothered her. Good luck and I hope it goes well!

InactiveThanks, Tracy.
I’m going to try Landen on them. Of course we have to wait for the insurance to get their “prior authorization” “eyeroll”…so it will probably be this weekend before I can start dosing him with them.June 14, 2007 at 7:01 pm #36796Anonymous
Inactivei would prefer the 20 mg packs…we had major issues with the 40 mg packs and the buffer issues.

InactiveWe have had great success with the 20mg packets. Sarah has been on them since 4 months old. She has always had 1.5 packets at day at least…so I wouldn’t worry about it. She had very loose stools in the beginning (but we also switched formulas at the same time). Whichever the problem was, it corrected itself within a few days and she has never had any gas or vomiting because of it. Good luck! – I’m grateful that I haven’t had to worry about adding the extra buffer! Hope it works for you as well!

InactiveThanks so much for all the replies. I am sticking with the 20mg packs. I am just waiting on my new gi offc to finish filling out the pre-auth form. They have 7-10 days to do it and then I have to wait on Insurance too. UGH!!!
All the while…Landen is still suffering. I called to ask if they could expedite the process ANY faster and got attitude from the receptionist. I just LOVE people.
