Zegerid mixing ?

I started Abby on Zegerid tonight. I was mixing it up and when I put the plunger back into the syringe to mix it up the syringe fills with air and I can’t push the plunger all the way down. Do you leave the air in or take the cap off and try to get it out?

Hey there!

First of all congrats on the Zegerid script!! I would push the air out, but go slowly and BE CAREFUL, because more than once I have shot all the medicine across the room. Oh, and once it happened with cap on and once with cap off, (you should have seen me looking everywhere for that little blue cap).

What has worked for us is to put the plunger in just enough so it stays in, tip the syringe up (tip/tip cap up), wait till the air bubble moves up by the tip cap, then take off the tip cap and gently push the plunger. Like Sherry, we have also had a few disasters but once you get the hang of it, it is really easy.
