Hang in there. We had a HORRIBLE time with the Zegerid when we first started it with my son. We used the 20 mg. packs at first. He spit it up like crazy. It got better when we switched to the 40 mg. packs, but the Mylanta gave him gas and diarrhea, so we now do the 40 mg. packs with the Tums, just like you. Now Ben takes his meds just fine. I think, like Shelby said, he even gets excited for it. I also think that the Tums and the sodium bicarb. in it really help to soothe whatever acid he has at the moment, so it’s like he knows now that it will help him feel better.
We tried everything too, but the way it worked/works the best for us is to give it to him BEFORE his first feed, in the afternoon after his second feed and before his nap and at night before his nightime feed. I tried doing it after his feed in the morning and it never worked because he would be refluxing after eating and it would always come right back up.
I’ve also noticed that he prefers some of the TUMS flavors over the others…
