InactiveOh my gosh, I’m so excited!!! I just ordered banana, strawberry, and vanilla. Dagney LOVES the taste of her prevacid, which is strawberry, so I’m pretty sure that one will work. I can’t wait to get the flavorings to try the Neocate w/out rice cereal!! Maybe I’ll even stop at Starbucks tomorrow to see if they have that vanilla flavoring stuff!!!dfb052007-4-1 22:13:31

InactiveOh yes, she gets VERY excited about her peas, beef, sweet potatoes, and pears…she humms, flails her arms, kicks her legs, and screetches in delight! Hopefully with the flavoring she’ll be as excited about the neocate too!!

InactiveI haven’t gotten my flavoring yet, but I ordered banana. Owen still isn’t taking the Neocate well, I did add rice syrup to sweeten it and have been giving him one bottle of goats milk a day, per the Dr. Sears recipe.

InactiveOh course, sometimes I screetch, kick, and flail my arms when I’m hungry too, so maybe she’s learned that from me?!?

InactiveI just got the flavoring today, and am going to experiment on how much to add. I think I’m going to start with the vanilla since it’s the closest to plain milk flavoring. If that doesn’t work, I got banana and strawberry too.
Erica, have you tried it yet? How much did you add? I think earlier in the post there was a link to an older post, and it that someone mentioned an amount, I’m going to refer back to that & see what they did.
Oh, ok, I just went back and read it, and the poster said that she would add about .1 ml of the flavoring per ounce of Neocate.
I also just talked to my Pedi’s office, one of the nurse practitioners, and she told me that I could add it if I wanted to, but since she is taking in about 25-26 oz/day, that’s fine and she doesn’t see the need to push for more formula intake. She also mentioned how the sweetness of the flavoring could just get her hooked on only wanting sweet stuff. The Pediatrician had said that she should be taking in 32 ounces/day, but the RN said that even 20-24 is fine, as long as she’s still wetting, and by 1 year they only need 16 oz. anyway. However, that’s not to say that other babies don’t need it, especially if there is a weight issue or they’re not taking in enough ounces per day. In Dagney’s case, however, she thoughtthe amount Dagney was drinking when she was straight Neocate was fine. She didn’t say that it wasn’t safe to use it, just in our case it wasn’t really needed.
SO, after all this effort and $$ I’ve spent trying to figure out cereal, flavoring, nipples, you name it, I’m going to give it a shot and try the straight Neocate with Dagney and see what happens! (I’ll probably keep the rice cereal in her bedtime bottle, though, just as a precaution!)

InactiveHello All,
I just got my flavoring yesterday….. I have been mixing goats milk and Neocate 50/50 and so far he seems to really like it much better. My only fear is he is MSPI and I hope that it continues to go well. I figured by now that he would have been fussier or I would have had some kind of sign if he wasn’t tolerating, but so far I haven’t so I’m definately hopeful!! MUCH CHEAPER TOO!!! Everytime he starts to fuss though, I think it’s the goats milk bothering him and I start to panic, but so far he’s only been fussy because he is tired, hungry, etc!!
You are very lucky that Dagney takes 26 oz, that’s excellent!! Owen is lucky to take 20 in a day and he definately has a weight issue because he got so far behind when we were trying to figure out the MSPI thing. I’m very excited to take him to the doc on Tue, he hasn’t been weighed in awhile and for a time we were taking him weekly and more so I don’t think I’ve gone this long without weighing him!! It’s funny the things that get me excited these days!!
Hope you all have a happy Easter! My husband has been gone all week and we are awaiting his return tonight so Griffin and I are trying to pass the time!!

InactiveI had a brain wave today….infant vitamins in aus are pineapple flavoured…if your bubs on on flavoured vitamins you could add that to the bottle! The pharmacist suggested them (the vitamins) today as Alana is still snuffly from her cold that she had like 3 weeks ago. I also gave her first lot of probiotics.

InactiveTherese, the infant vitamins here taste like dirt.
