InactiveHi!!!!
Yey, youre australian!! Nope we are still in Mt gambier hospital, aparently one specialist has an 18 mth waiting lost and the other one works part time, so while lace is stable we wont be moved or know anything before tuesday.
I am a bit concerned as the paediatrician wants to introduce solids tomorrow and she has an absolutely huge list of things that she cant eat from fruit to arrowroot bickies!
Yeah i totally understand what you meant by the 6th sense, lace has never refused food until that one occasion.
I am really glad that alana is doing well on pepti jun1

InactiveRekha-
Yes! The banana flavoring is working wonders!! She loves it and it makes it smell so much better too. Before I received the little bottle in the mail, I was using 1/2 tsp./oz. of organic Gerber bananas and that worked great also, but it made the formula a creepy gray color. I think I’m going to need to stock up on this stuff!!

InactiveRekha: Hi. Yep – I use the rice drink just as I would water. Our nutritionist did suggest it. We tried mixing just about everything else but the rice drink does the trick for us! I saw a few previous posts on mixing, but this is how our nutritionist told me to mix for Carson: I put 5 scoops of Neocate in his bottle and add enough rice drink to reach the 5 ounce mark. I shake it up and usually I have to add a bit more and make sure it is up to the 5 ounce mark. Then we are good to go!

InactiveThank you everyone for the great suggestions! I am so desperate to get my son to take the neocate willingly as we still have to syringe feed him and he is still refusing solids!
I am going to try the banana flavoring and the rice milk (separately of course!). Thanks for the encouragement. Brenda, that is so great that the rice milk is working, especially since it gives him extra calories!. My little guy is quite small 🙁 Did you start this before age 1? My son is 10 1/2 months now.
Thank you all again!!!

InactiveCan someone post the link for Frontier Corp? I’d like to keep it bookmarked in case anyone asks about flavoring in the future. Thanks.

InactiveRekha: We started the Neocate mixed with rice drink when he was around 7 months. I BF until 6 months and then doc said we should do Neocate. It took a few weeks for us to try different flavorings but nothing worked very well until rice drink and that prob took 2-3 weeks total – so around 7 months I would say. The benefit of rice drink instead of water is that they get a few extra calories. Our rice drink gives him an extra 13 calories per ounce – so for the little ones this is great! For us, it is easy to mix up and we love it. The rice drink doesn’t need to be refrigerated so we buy it when it is on sale and then once it is opened, we put it in the refrigerator. They come in little boxes that have a spout on the top.
