InactiveHi! Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive the BufferBabies kit? I contacted David yesterday and emailed in my patient sheet. Just curious…waiting is so hard!

InactiveIt was a while back that I ordered (1.5 yrs) but it took about 5-7 days if I remember… it was SO hard to wait though I definitely remember that!!!

InactiveIt’s hit or miss with him. Sometimes I’ve gotten a response immediately and sometimes it has been days. Hopefully if you’ve already sent your patient request form, the kit will be in the mail soon. We’ve been using BufferBabies for almost two months now and really like it! I have zegerid sitting in my cabinet that we MIGHT switch to eventually…I’m just scared to rock the boat! 🙂

InactiveThanks! I got a response from him yesterday and my packet should go in the mail today…thank goodness! Last night I had to hold Kensley all night long and she would just scream when she refluxed. 🙁 She didn’t nurse for 9 hours during the night because she was in so much pain. 🙁

InactiveOh, I’m so sorry! I can certainly relate… Tate is that way too when his reflux pain is not managed. I *think* we might have finally found a formula of
Zegerid that works for him (fingers crossed – only on day 2 of it) & I’m hoping he’s more comfy soon! (he doesn’t tolerate Prevacid solutabs or Buffer Babies).

InactiveAww, I’m sorry Kinsley was so miserable! I hope your kit gets there soon!!!
Erin – What is it in the BB that Tate doesn’t tolerate? It’s more hypo-allergenic than the Tums/Mylanta that have to be used with zegerid? I am so glad he’s doing well so far (knock on wood!) with the zegerid though!! I hope it continues!February 18, 2010 at 3:22 pm #65829Anonymous
InactiveAmy,
After I posted that I realized I hadn’t spoken totally in truth ;). Okay, so EVAN didn’t tolerate BB. We had/have (still have a few around here) the formulas when they 1st came back out (2008) they were still called CaraCream but were being phased into Buffer Babies… anyway, I’m assuming (but might be wrong) that they are the same formula still (b/c I had asked David Stock if the BB was anything diff’t & he said no). The 1st ingredient was corn syrup solids so I’m assuming that’s what Evan was reacting to – & oh boy, did he do bad!!! (& Evan is borderline intolerant to corn now so makes sense). So bad that I didn’t/don’t want to try w/ Tate unless absolutely necessary & we’ve tried everything else. The Tums DOES have corn starch + maltodextrin (probably from corn) but they are like the 8th & 10th ingredients so not so much.

InactiveThat’s what I was going to tell you…but wanted to hear you say it first. I had a feeling it was corn and they DO DO DO have a corn-free version of BB!!!! If zegerid/tums doesn’t work out then I would definitely give it a shot! Dr. Phillips said you can specifically request a corn free version but it is slightly more expensive b/c they have the ingredients shipped from Israel! Cool huh! Just remember that if you need to use it! 🙂

InactiveUgh…I am thinking the corn will not work for Kensley. 🙁 We are headed to the doctor tomorrow and I am holding out hope that she will prescribe Zegerid. But, she already told us that she only prescribes meds for reflux when babies start losing weight.
That is TOTALLY crazy to me! What doctor would say to an adult patient, “sorry to hear about your reflux, but when you stop eating due to the pain, we’ll get you on some medicine.” Ridiculous! Sorry girls, I am in a mood today from lack of sleep. 🙂February 18, 2010 at 8:59 pm #65835Anonymous
InactiveThat’s GREAT news Amy… thanks so much. We may have to go that route eventually. I thought Tate was doing well on the Zegerid/Tums combo but he started having some tummy pains this evening (I just gave him his 5th dose) so we’ll see. That’s such good news though to know there’s a corn-free version!!!
Tracy- that is totally unacceptable IMO. Can you find a new dr?

InactiveWell, we had a GREAT doc appt on Friday and she prescribed Zegerid!!!!!!!!
I went in armed with all of my print outs from Marci-Kids and she was so thankful and cool about everything. YAY! Kensley seems to already be showing some improvement!February 21, 2010 at 1:34 pm #65850Anonymous
InactiveThat’s GREAT!!!! Are you using mylanta or tums?
February 21, 2010 at 1:38 pm #65851Anonymous
InactiveThank you! 🙂 I am just using the water/Zegerid mixture from the marci-kids site. That is what we used with Addy and it worked. I was just looking on here to see why I needed to use Tums or Mylanta? Do you know?

InactiveIf you have the 20mg packets, you only need water. Sarah was on these and did GREAT…however they are now recommending the 40mg packets for children under 2 b/c of the really high amount of sodium bicarbonate in the 20mgs (can cause stomach upset). Again, we did FINE on them.
You only have to use Tums/Mylanta if you have the 40mg packets. They need to extra buffer (b/c they don’t have as much sodium bicarb). Make sense?Which one do you have?February 21, 2010 at 1:51 pm #65853Anonymous
InactiveOh! We have the 40 and if I remember correctly, we had the 20 with Addy. Thanks so much for the info…going to the store for the Mylanta asap! Mylanta is MSPI safe, right?
