InactiveOk so i got the capsules to try today and this is the last resort for omeprazole (unless the caracream works miracles
when it arrives)So I’m worried my daughter is gonna choke on the beads!! I gave it in some applesauce but prob too much as I was worried!!
Would syringing it in be better or more likely to choke?!?
Any tips needed!!

Inactiveit is impossible for your daughter to choke on the beads—-they are too small.

InactiveThe beads in the losec capsules are fairly big and Hailey couldn’t tolerate them by syringe. She gagged quite a bit. Could you mix them bit by bit into the applesauce? Just wondering why the switch from MUPS to capsules if the MUPS were going in okay- they work the same.

InactiveShe has been on the mups for 2 weeks and slowly got worse and worse until it is now like she isn’t on any meds

They don’t seem to be working or i am mixing them wrong?
So capsules the last resort now otherwise i’m not sure what we will do?

InactiveHow are you giving the mups? Basically, giving the mups is the exact same thing as giving the capsules- they are both delayed release enteric coated- you remove the outside and give them in some applesauce (we were also told a bit of water was okay) and then follow up with a meal 30 minutes later. Capsules in caracream might work better. Alternately, if losec in Caracream doesn’t work, you could try prevacid. Might the issue be the dose and not the meds? You guys get the solutabs in the UK as well, I believe just under the name of zoton.

Inactivewell i was having to cut the mup tablet in half which i think is not good to give the right dose.
she has now been put up to 20mg a day and Dr Phillips recommended 30mg so we are nearly there with conviencing our dr

i guess it can take a while for the new dose to work so i will keep going…..can’t wait to try the caracream and i know laura loves it

InactiveMy little guy didn’t get any relief until he was finally on 30 mg. You may have to keep pushing to get her dose increased. I know how frustrating it is
. It took me six weeks or more (may have been 8) to finally convince Myles’ doctor, but once he was on 30 mg, things turned around so it was well worth all the aggravation.September 12, 2006 at 11:16 am #13414Anonymous
Inactivei know, well we have recently seen a private dr in london and he said 20mg is WELL within safe limits for her and it says on his website he will treat aggressivly (sp?) reflux with up to 40mg doses!! so i’m sure if this doesn’t work then he will up her dose again!
When i spoke to the NHS pead who i have seen but their waiting list is 3 months they said they would normally have started her on 3mg
like that would help anyone!!It’s so stupid as they start on such tiny doses no wonder nothing has ever worked for my daughter. When she started on Ranitidine it was a 0.3ml dose
totally pointlessSeptember 12, 2006 at 12:47 pm #13417Anonymous
InactiveThat’s great news about the private doctor! At least you know he’ll likely increase her dose if this doesn’t work. Good luck.

Can you post his website? I’d like to read about some other physicians who agree with marci-kids. It may help others as well.
