March 25, 2006 at 11:23 pm #4639AnonymousInactiveWhat formula is he on? We give peaches, bananas, oatmeal in every bottle (rice is constipating!) and 4 ounces of water in a bottle every day. Also, the doc. prescribed a mild laxitive, but it really does cause her tummy to cramp a little. We have actually used enimas before unfortunately. Seems like the reflux gets worse when they are straining so much to poop. Also, they have painful gas. Thing it is the lactose in the prevacid? Hope things get moving for him soon! Sarah

March 27, 2006 at 4:15 pm #4747AnonymousInactiveHave you tried Flax Seed Oil? I give it to my kids whenever their bowels are sluggish and it usually helps.
My doctor has always told me that babies don’t have to poop every day. (big surprise to me!). She says some will only go a few times a week and that’s o.k as long as they are not uncomfortable and as long as their stools are not hard. My friend’s daughter used to poop only on average 3 times per week, compared to my first two who used to go three times a day!! Just one of those things that differ in children.
March 27, 2006 at 4:36 pm #4750AnonymousInactiveHow often does he go? Emma was constipated on soy for 2-3 months and nothing seemed to work. We switched to Alimentum by taking the advice of others here and we haven’t had it since. We tried everything to and it either didn’t work or upset her stomach. Alimentum is nasty and almost all refuse it. I had to basically trick Emma. It took a while but it was worth it. I started out with 1/4 alimentum, 3/4 soy, then 1/2 & 1/2 until I got her to take the full Alimentum, I think it took about 2 weeks for the transition, some her have taken longer but like I said it was the best choice formula wise I ever made if you decide that route.
When she was constipated she would not go for 3-4 days. I would have to use a laxative for her to go and it would be hard as a rock. Emma still doesn’t always go everyday which is OK, just as long she is passing it fine and not hard
