I’m having trouble getting my 19 month old to take the Zantac that was recently prescribed to her. She sees me coming with the syringe and turns her head away, screaming “no no” and won’t open her mouth. I know this stuff tastes terrible, so I don’t blame her. Any tricks that I can do that will get her to take this stuff a little easier???
mix it w/ mylanta! find mylanta cherry supreme or the store brand equivalent- look at the ingredients of all the ‘kinds’ of mylanta- there is one variety that does NOT have aluminum, and this is the one to buy. you can give up to 5mls of mylanta over the course of a 24hr period. it’s safe even for newborns. if you see loose stools, back off… also check your zantac dose to make it’s as ‘high’ as it can go. https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8288&PN=1 most babies seem to plateau on zantac, then they ‘move on’ to a PPI (proton pump inhibitor such as prilosec, prevacid, nexium, protonix)
