InactiveI’m switching to zegerid (20mg-low I know but GI wants me to “try” it first before going higher so I have to humor her) from prevacid solutabs. They’ve been the only thing that’s worked for Ian but never perfect and we think it’s the lactose. We’ve tried prevacid and prilosec compounds and failed both. However, both were 2 week prescriptions with sodium biocarbonate. Just wondering if anyone here was on prilosec and switched to zegerid and saw good results? Ian’s stint on prilosec was by far the worst I’ve ever seen him so I’m nervous since it’s the same drug.
Also, any tips on mixing? (I’m sure there are many posts on this so apologies). I’m still going to do my 15 in the morning and 5 at night since Ian seems to sleep ok unless he has an allergic reaction. How much water? I’ve already got my syringe!
Thanks everyone.

Keymasterit is just mixing
…for switching, I think that some babies do better w/ one PPI over another- jonah switched from prilosec to prevacid & did better- & I’m pretty sure Anne’s Lucas switched from prevacid to zegerid & has done great

InactiveIt is so frustrating that your doc always wants to start low and then go higher with the dose. I wish she would do it the other way, especially in light of his history. I hope it works for him. Does he seem to be in pain now on the solutabs?

InactiveMy daughter, now 3 1/2 months, switched from Prevacid solutabs to Zegerid with great success. We mixed the 20 mg packet with 7 ml water (makes 10 ml) and she was given 3.5 ml 3 times per day. This was her starting dose in early March when she weighed a little over 8 pounds. We are now at 4.5 ml 3 times per day and it is working great. We found out that our doctor was only giving about 1/4 the dose of the Prevacid so maybe if she had the right dose of that to begin with, it may have been more successful but who knows. Now at the higher dose, we mix 2 20mg packets with 13 ml of water in a big syringe, then put it into smaller doses. The marci-kids website is great to tell you how to do it.
Hope it is successful for you!!
