I think we are done in the baby department, so I am really looking to get rid of the multiple bins of clothes we have stored in the basement. I would love to make some money on this, but I am realistic as well. Most of the cosignment sales around here only give you 40% of the sale price and that seems like a pittance. Also, I don’t know the first thing about Ebay, but I will learn if you all have found it to be profitable.

I will probably just give them away or do a consigment shop as I don’t know anything about e-bay either. I have been the recipent of many hand-me -downs for Cooper and have appreciated them so I will probably give some away if I have a friend who has a lo when I am thinking about doing it. right now we are storing as I am undecided on more babies at this timeJanuary 4, 2008 at 8:03 am #46922AnonymousInactiveI have saved them for friends who are/may get pregnant. I got a ton of Hand-me-downs when I had both boys, and they grow so quickly that it can get really expensive buying clothes, so I just want to pass on what was given to me.
If I was more motivated, I might to e-bay or consignment if I didn’t have any preg. friends.Ann MarieJanuary 4, 2008 at 9:42 am #46925AnonymousInactiveI voted to just give them away. I did keep out some baby and special outfits that were sentimental and have donated some and given some away to a neighbor. I still though have bags in his closet that I need to do something with. I will probably end up taking them to Goodwill. This sounds bad but I have some really nice things and sometimes I think if I take them to Goodwill, the ebayers will come in and buy them to resale and I have not figured out how I feel about that yet. I would rather be sure they went to someone that really needed them.
I have thought about trying to sell them in our annual neighborhood yard sale but don’t know if it is really worth the effort.Maybe we should set up a clothing swap!January 4, 2008 at 2:21 pm #46946AnonymousInactiveI did yard sale, but like Tiffany said it’s a lot of work. And then I had some really nice name brand clothes and I had a $1-2 on everything and people were trying to talk me down and I was like no way! I had Old Navy, Gap and a lot of Children’s Place clothes and I couldn’t believe how some were such “professionals” at it. It’s a dollar!!!! I paid a lot for that stuff!! That’s why I don’t like yard sales!
There are a lot of consignment sales around here in the summer and a lot of friends have told me to do it. I think if you’re going to do it thought, you have to mark things up to make up the difference. The only thing good about it is they sit there and sell it for you??January 4, 2008 at 3:20 pm #46950hellbenntKeymasterI saved Jonah’s clothes & now Ari is wearing them. Anything that Ari outgrows: I give away the things that I have no sentimental feelings about and I’m saving the rest to give to friends, etc…
I’ve been very lucky about getting hand-me-downs, so I’ll return the favor by giving away to friends
I did try selling some brand-new outfits, still with tags, when Jonah was a baby, to a consignment shop & it wasn’t worth it (I didn’t get much money and I had to check up on everything- they didn’t contact the sellers when they sold things- what a way to make money!!!)…January 5, 2008 at 1:45 pm #46980AnonymousInactiveI have sold some of Sarah’s outfits on ebay. Mostly the ones with tags that she never wore. I am keeping most of her clothes for baby #2 in case it’s another girl and after that will either sell lots on ebay or give away to friends or family. Ebay can be very profitable if you have the time to sort through, organize, list items, package and ship them out…It can be time consuming though!
January 5, 2008 at 8:36 pm #47001AnonymousInactiveI gave Ariella’s clothes to Salvation Army. Most of them were in a pretty good condition but I didn’t feel like dealing with selling and Ebay or anything of that sort. I do have brand new Italian winter boots that Ariella never got to wear (I bought a smaller size) that still has the tag on them. I’d like to sell those so I might try e-bay after all. I can’t save them for baby #2 b/c we know we’re having a boy and the boots are pink!
