at about 2 yrs old (maybe 18 months) we started giving jonah tiny amounts of water in a cup at meals & snack time- whenever he was sitting down- he would still get his sippy, but we would make a ‘thing’ of the cup and say “2-hands Cup
!!” and he’d get into it and try…somehow between then and now (almost 3) he gets his liquids in a regular cup at mealtimes (we dont drink juice- only milk & water)- I still don’t pour a lot in bcse of the ‘spill factor’ but I don’t mind adding to his cup frequently as he drinks what he has…
when we leave the house, we bring a sippy…
I don’t think it matters about kinds of sippies? I find we use the straw kind for water and the toss-n-go kind (which we don’t toss, we use again & again, lol!) for milk (well, now we use a 2-hands-cup for milk, as he doesn’t drink it outside of meals at home)
