bottle/sterilizing question

we are going in a much needing vacations the question is how sterilize the nipples (since i use the drop ins only have the plastic part is ok with just a wash) i mean i still do it (boil, sterilize the nipples) and i dont know how to do it in a hotel since but it is ok if i skip the process and just wash them with an antibacterial dish soap im so confussed since my relatives coment that you have to sterilize until your baby is at least 1 yr old…..

what are your thoughts on this???????????

is there a microwave in the hotel room? you could then use those microwave steam sterilization bags (love them!!)

Yeah, the microwave bags are a hit!. We used it all teh tiem when kendra was taking the bottle. You can get them at target. Also, i would not use antibacterial soap to wash your baby bottles. The antibacterial chemical can linger in the bottle.

As far as I know, you only need to sterilize the nipples before the first use. After that just washing in hot, soapy water should be fine.

Our doc said to stop sterilizing at 6 months. Once they’re moving around, they’re already into everything, so it doesn’t really matter. I’d just wash well in hot water. Have fun!

I think the “new” thought on sterilization is that you only need to sterilize before the first use as Denise mentioned. After that it’s supposed to be sufficient to wash with hot, soapy water.

I never sterilized after the first time. At home, I wash them in the dishwasher. When we’re on vacation I just use hot, soapy water.
