Buffer Babies and OTC?

Hello all! Just wanted to chime in amongst the other raving fans – this site is of so much use and comfort for all of us. Thank you so much!

DS#1 had pretty severe silent reflux and was on Prevacid solutabs until he was about 15 mos. He seems to be doing great now and tolerated the solutabs just fine.

DS#2 is 6 weeks old and seems really fussy/uncomfortable after taking the solutab and I’m wondering if he’s reacting to the milk base or aspartame.

In any case, I was thinking of giving Buffer Babies a go but didn’t know if you can use Prevacid OTC on such a young baby? Or should I get an Rx for the Prevacid capsules? How do you go about getting the correct dosage from either (if they are supposed to take say, 9 mg 3x a day and the capsule is 15 mg – how do you go about getting just 9 from it???). Are there other medications that work better with Buffer Babies or does Prevacid work as well?

I would start w/ the doctor and see what you get…
print out the marci-kids info and/or fax it ahead of time (before your appt.)

prevacid works great w/ bufferbabies! they (bufferbabies) give you instructions on how to make the correct solution, not to worry.

I would contact bufferbabies to find out if there is both a rx and OTC form of prevacid you can use w/ the bufferbabies (i.e. if the capsules OTC and rx capsules are the ‘same’ and if you can use some of each to mix in w/ the bufferbabies). Please report your findings

we use BB and have for 8 months and it has worked awesome! we are using omeprazole with BB, I highly recommend it
