InactiveI have seen the milk/soy free diet list but I have found that some of the products have soy in them. We do not have a health food store so we need to shop at a local grocery store. Colt does terrible with soy but he is a great eater and will try anything new. We have just hit a wall when it comes to finding him new foods. Any help would be great.

Inactivecan Colt have soy oils? I have a lot of things I have found, but some have soy oil/lechtin…Brianna was always able to tolerate that. Let me know and then I will post some of the things I eat. 🙂

InactiveHi Kathleen. Carson can tolerate soy oils and soy lecithin. Lifesaver because so many foods have soy oil. Carson lives on the following: scrambled eggs, rice cereal, oatmeal, vandecamp fish sticks, beef hot dogs, hormel spag or hormel mac n beef, Golden Oreos, Kid’s choice white bread, potatoes, french fries (homemade in canola oil), hamburgers, homemade goulash, Smartie candies, raisins, ham, HyVee vegetarian vegetable soup, Dinty Moore beef stew, meatloaf (hamb, Campbell’s tom soup, eggs, saltine crackers, salt, pepper), corn, green beans, Tyson Chicken nuggets, tator tots (Orida I think), Spagetti with Hunts traditional, lazanya with Hunts traditional, Old El Paso taco seasoning, Jiffy muffin mixes, some Duncan Hines cake mixes, HyVee brownie mix. (Some of these things have soy oil or lecithin, but give it a try with Colton and see how he does. Once we knew Carson could handle the oil, it opened up a whole new world of food for him!)
Good luck!
I have a permanent list that is affixed to my refrigerator that I use when I go to the grocery store. I write down things Carson can have and I try to add a new thing or two each week that I find on the shelf. I try not to “search” for too many new things at one time. It really can be time consuming and with child in-tow, can make things so hectic. It is nice that “most” items have soy listed as an allergen after the list of ingredients. I have found some that don’t, but that is because the product was produced before 1/06 – scary that some items have that long of a shelf life!
I pray that when I get a really good list for Carson he will be able to tolerate milk and soy and I won’t need the list! Good luck to you! The food manufacturers also DO change the ingredients from time to time and don’t have a note on the box/pkg, so I always do a quick scan on the ingredient list b4 throwing it in my cart.

InactiveOK, here are a few off the top of my head…some of these have soy oil so I guess it depends on what you decide to do with that one:
Tyson’s chicken nuggets, applegate farms hotdogs (these are available at some grocery stores), pepperidge farm bagels (my daughter lives on these); smart balance light and Fleishman’s unsalted margarine; Graham crackers (nabisco); salteins; kix (another thing my daughter lives off!) or cherrios or honey nut cherrios; alexandria brand frozen products (they make french fries and such…and they are yummy!); hormel natural turkey meat; any fruits and veggies; meat (stir fry in olive oil); eggs
I know there is much more…I will keep thinking and will update my post.

InactiveThankyou for posting! DD is getting very bored with eating lately and now I have a new menu! She has been living on special bread from the health food store, rice and corn pasta, roasted chicken, home made french fries, peaches, potatoes, and popcycles. The older she gets the less soy irritates her, but she still gets painful gas and stomach aches occasionally. I hope they all outgrow this someday and have an icecream cone like other kids!

InactiveYou are welcome and good luck! I know what you mean about the ice cream. That is my husband’s biggest concern with this whole milk thing. I don’t think he really cares if Brianna drinks cow’s milk or not, he just wants to see her be able to go to a birthday party and enjoy cake. Have you ever done a dairy trial with Ryann? (I love that name by the way.)

InactiveJust one more thing I forgot to add…Pillsbury sugar cookies (in the tube only!) 🙂

InactiveI didn’t know that the sugar cookies were safe in the tube! Thanks for the info everyone! Isaac has been on the mspi safe diet (again) for a week now and I cannot imagine how hard it must be long term!

InactiveYes, the sugar cookies are safe…just make sure it is only Pillsbury and only in the round tube…all the other types are not safe. Oh and another thing to try…hunts pudding in either Lemon meringue pie or lemon…only those are safe.
