InactiveI figured that they probably couldn’t do much anyways, and if it was a severe fracture I figure that they would be able to see it on the initial x-ray. The doc wants to see her again today to be sure, though I know it’s just going to be a waste of time with him saying to just let it heal on it’s own.

InactiveLet us know what the doctor says. Hope she’s back up and running soon!

InactiveIt is true that fractures in child do heal on their own but it is better to know to have it casted or ace wrapped and not have to apply pressure to the foot so it can heal correctly back in its place. I’m glad to hear she walking!

InactiveI agree with the previous poster, toddlers fractures do heal on there own, but it is best to have them wrapped at least, or casted if bad…Noahs was pretty bad, we saw once the new growth started, but before that it took two different sets of x-rays to find the fracture…its harder to see babies and toddlers as there bones are so dense yet…
Glad to hear shes walking though…

InactiveI agree with a PP. When I fractured my foot (hairline, barely visible), it hurt worse on day 2 and 3.
How is the sweet girl feeling? Any better? Did your pedi. ever call you back?

InactiveThanks. The ped never called back. I called back yesterday and the NP said that we need to bring her in. We waited for 45 minutes with all the sick kids in the PACKED office, and finally he saw her… had her walk, said that since she’s walking, even though she’s limping, we should just wait it out. A serious fracture would show up on the x-ray and cause her obvious pain with movement. Since there’s been an improvement, he thinks that we should just let her be and see where things go. He doesn’t see the point in going through with a bone scan when we probably wouldn’t cast anyways since she’s walking. He does think that there’s probably a hairline fracture probably in the foot since she can walk better with shoes on and complains with some movement/pressure of the foot. She’s walking a lot better this morning. I just hope she didn’t pick up something worse at the docs office… especially b/c he was holding her hands when she was walking and carrying her and she puts everything in her mouth. Thanks for asking (and sorry for the longwinded reply).

InactiveThanks for the update. You sound like me…wondering what else they will end up with every time you go to the doctor’s office.
