Caracream Max no longer available

[Anonymous]

I placed an order for Caracream Max to the reflux solutions lab and the order and check was returned yesterday. I have been reading anything and everything I can to figure out what I can do for my daughter. She is on Prevacid OTC with Caracream Max. I am reading about Zegerid 40mg packets, or using Prevacid OTC beads in capsules mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of apple sauce and waiting 30 minutes before the meal. I am very interested in the Zegerid however I don’t have a prescription and wondering if I can use the OTC capsules instead? She is currently on 9.6mg/4.6mls Caracream Max/Prevacid three times daily. I am starting to panic as the last bottle of Caracream Max is being used…..HELP!!!!

Just got this response from Dr. P at Marci-kids

The University decided that they would no longer fund our operation. I am trying to find a Pharmacy that makes something similar.

“Thank you all for taking the time to contact us regarding the removal of refluxsolutions.com and Marcikids.com. Your support and kind words have been overwhelmingly touching.

All of your letters are being compiled so we can present them to the University of Missouri in an effort to restore the site and providing caracream products to infants with acid reflux. We are not giving up.

Dr. Phillips has been and will remain in communication via his facebook profile to assist in any way he can but unfortunately the site and the support from the University of Missouri has been discontinued. It was the decision that was made due to circumstances beyond Dr. Phillips’ control and has deeply saddened him because he knows how distressing it is for you, the providers of care to infants with chronic acid reflux.

In an effort to put all of you at ease regarding the reasons behind this decision, it was NEVER a request from the FDA to discontinue providing caracream products or any other products sold through refluxsolutions.com. This was purely an act brought on by the University of Missouri and that is the only information that we are permitted to disclose at this time.

All of you that want to remain updated regarding this situation and any potential changes, please continue to send letters and encourage the other parents and providers of care to infants with acid reflux to send letters. They are not falling on blind eyes and your support is very meaningful.

Best Regards

Friends of Infants with Acid Reflux”

“Hello everybody.

There were some questions as to where to send letters. That was my oversight. Send them to me here at this email address.

kira@consultresults.com

If you’ve sent or contacted any one else, I am not aware of it and probably will not be able to collect any emails or letter that have been sent.

If you know of others that have contacted any one else ask them to please send their correspondence to this email address.

Thanks again to all of you who have had such wonderful things to say about Dr. Phillips and for your continued interest in supporting Marcikids.com and Refluxsolutions.com.”

This is the letter I sent to the above e-mail. I encourage everyone to write a letter ASAP. Thank you for providing the information above.

To whom it may concern,

The decision by the University of Missouri to no longer fund the acid reflux research center is devastating to the health and happiness of my infant and family.  The Caracream product was first given to my ailing twin boy infants two and a half years ago.  The boys suffered two months of screaming and complete discomfort, even after consulting their pediatrician and using the medication prescribed.  I researched the Internet looking for help and found blogs about Dr Phillips and the research center.  I contacted him and he replied almost immediately helping me with being educated on what medication to give the boys and using Caracream products as the liquid form was much more effective along with a more frequent dosage throughout the day.  This was a God-send to my boys and our family.  After three days the boys were almost “normal” and not uncomfortable, then by a week the problem of reflux was resolved.

More recently my little girl born in April of this year also developed acid reflux and became very uncomfortable.  The screaming and inability to eat and sleep is not only distressing to the infant but distressing beyond imagination to me as a mother.  I contacted the reflux center and started using Caracream Max with Prevacid.  She also turned around like my boys, she is a healthy happy baby and I am a happy mother as a result.  I tried a week ago to ween her off the medication, she is seven months and I speculated maybe she no longer needed it.  I was wrong, she had a major setback, constantly crying and not eating or sleeping well.  I put her back on the medication and she is just now starting to feel better.  On Saturday I received a letter returning my refill order and check.  Devastated and heart broken is a mild description of how I am feeling.  The University’s decision is directly affecting my daughters health and happiness.  While I can use other methods of medication, the Caracream method has been the most effective with the best results.

I am requesting and demanding that the University provide infants and mothers the ability to obtain the Caracream products at a minimum, and ultimately restore the research center as their research is the ONLY reliable and effective information for infants and parents afflicted by this terrible ailment. I can be certain those that made this decision have not experienced the heartbreak of an infant with acid reflux and no effective medication!
