InactiveOk, so this was our first week using caracream with the prevacid. It was great not having to starve her for 30 mins! But… I noticed as the week went on the caracream mix got very thick sitting in the fridge and I couldn’t get the right dose measured. Also, I was wondering if anyone waited a little while before feeding or is the bottle given immediatley after administering the meds. She is teething like mad, so I am trying to figure out if the caracream is not working that great or if it is the teething aggrevating the reflux. I know she is feeling bad again because I can hear her laryngomalacia stridor sounds again after they have been silent for a couple months

InactiveSarah, you can give the bottle anytime relative to the caracream- you can wait or not, it’s up to you. It doesn’t matter. Regarding the thickening up issue, yes we have that too. Joel said that you can add a few mls of water to help thin it out, or leave it out of the fridge for a few minutes. But I can’t remember how much of how long so I’d double check with him about the details. Did the pharmacy make it up for you or are you doing it yourself? Hope that she’s feeling better soon.

InactiveYou should try leaving the bottle out of the refrigerator for about 10 minutes before giving it, and if that doesn’t do the trick, add a couple of mLs of water to it like Lori said.

InactiveSarah,
I’m sorry this isn’t an answer to your question, but I was wondering how you
got the caracream. I was told by two pharmacists (one, my own father) that
it is no longer made. I’d like to try it, we’re having so much trouble. DD has
plateaued on Zantac, and prevacid packets are giving her a reaction (and
aren’t really working as I can’t get the whole dose down her each time).
Anyway, I’d be greatful if you could tell me how you got it.
thank you….

Keymasterfrom welcome/intro (groupie intro) there’s a link called ‘Prevacid 101’ – after you click there, it’s the last post on the page, the one in purple
the most up to date caracream info is there. I believe it’s yet another link….

ps: everyone
: PLEASE provide links for newcomers if you know how to find them…yes yes I am always providing links
, but I am very pregnant (due july 17th if I make it that long, LOL
) and chasing beautiful almost 3yr old jonah, who is currently in the middle of toilet-using-learning, so my time is very limited here at the moment

InactiveLaura,
I know things were getting redundant with the caracream and how to get it
issue. Sorry… you know how at our wits end so many of us are and we are
grasping at every positive experience anyone has had. Thanks for taking so
much time on this board. I have a 3.5 year old and a six month old…it’s
daunting…but so worth it!!
Good luck…

KeymasterErin,
I truly don’t mind! That’s what I’m here for
. That’s what we’re all here for
, thus my plea to my Forum Family to help me out…I’m ‘known’ around here for providing links (I find I don’t give as much support/hugs/pep talks as I did when I first started here, because I’ve already typed/’said’ what I want to share…thus the links & providing more factual/resource type of info) & so I think that sometimes people might not give a link or provide the same answer that I might provide bcse they figure that ‘hellbennt will do it.”which, more often than not, I do

…so please please keep posting your questions!!
so glad you found us!
