InactiveHi Lori,
I didn’t think you were trying to compare, so no worries! We all have unique experiences that affect us all with our children. I was not offended in the least
.Good luck today, and agin, post when you get a chance.
Hi Janice,
You are so sweet. I am hoping our GI comes through (I know she will) and get us in touch with that immunologist. Yesterday was our GI’s birthday and the immunologist is her best friend, so she said when she called her to wish her a happy birthday, she would discuss it then. I really am hesitant, but again, realize the importance of the vaccines. It is an awful position to be in. It just sucks our pediatricians were going to come up with a plan for us, and then told us to decide what we wanted to do about his 4 month shots instead. I am OK with them not taking on the “liability” but I do expect them to provide me with a direction or at the very least information so that I can make an informed decision. They have been exceptional up to this point, so I am a little disappointed in them.
Oh, and I know about that list of things to do!
I think of you guys often and hope that Samantha and Lance are both doing great! They are both adorable and the video was so cute! Lance looks so grown up!
Catch up soon!

InactiveAnn Marie: did you get my email? I have been having some trouble at new house so just wanted ot make sure!

InactiveHey Becky! Long time no “see”. How is that Hannah? Things here are better. I didn’t like the way Carter looked last night, so I had him on the monitor and I didn’t have to worry. He was fine, but it was nice to fall back on the monitor for now if we have to. We so need to catch up!
Hi Thais,
I did not receive your e-mail. Is it easier if I send one to you first and then you can reply? Just let me know….

InactiveHi Ann Marie,
I was actually going to send you an email instead of posting (which I ususally feel guilty about doing since I’m on here so infrequently), but realized I lost your email address when our campus email system was corrupted awhile back. With all you have going on right now, though, I’m sure that this is much simpler for you anyway, and it’s great to “talk” to you through the forum!
Dylan sounds like such a cutie pie!!! Palmer is really into t-ball too, though he wants us to throw it to him to hit it as much hit it off the stand. (He’s very athletic like his daddy…also into basketball, running and kicking the soccer ball, throwing a football, and golf) You’re so brave to let Dylan in the pool with a bubble by himself. Palmer is such a daredevil in the pool that I just don’t trust him yet even with me right on the side. Sigh…I guess I’m a bit overprotective though too.
Great news about your GI setting up the other appointments for you. I know that it must be frustrating to have to go through this, but at least you have someone being pro-active for you.
Yep, Palmer’s back on prevacid. Luckily he can tolerate the solu-tabs, and he loves taking them, so it’s not such a big deal. Unfortunately it’s not just the 2 year molars — he actually cut the last of those just after his 2 year birthday (we’ve always been lucky with early teething with him)! I posted an update after we returned from Costa Rica about a month ago…here’s the link if you’re interested. https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5761&a mp;PN=1
Keep us up to date on how things progress with Carter’s reflux and his other appointments. It’s been great catching up with you!

InactiveHey Christine,
monty 123 @ sbc global . net (no spaces) if you want it.
Dylan is also a year older than Palmer and I wouldn’t let him go in by himself last year, either, so you are not overprotective!
I checked out your update post. Very smart of you to bring some with you “just in case”. I never would have thought to do so. He sounds so tall! I think he is taller than Dylan! I am so glad you have such a good pedi. I love ours as well, but am questioning whether I will be able to trust them again.
Our immunology appt is set for July 28th, so I think I will let them take over doing the immunizations as Janice suggested. (Thanks, Janice!!)
Great to “see” you again as well!

InactiveYep…Palmer is taller than most of the 3 year olds at his pre-school/daycare too. But it’s better than in Costa Rica, where he was as tall or even taller than most of the 4 year olds! The “adult height predictor” that his pedi did (which neither he nor I put much value in, but he wanted to see what the prediction would be since Palmer is so tall now) estimated that Palmer would be 6′ 3 1/2″ as an adult. I’m only 5’3″ so I have a hard time believing he’ll even get close to that…no matter how much height he gets from Todd’s genes. (Todd is just over 6′, but he has uncles/grandpa/etc. that were as tall as 6’6″…and our 16 yr old twin nephews are already 6’3″).
I also think it’s wise to let the immunologist take over Carter’s vaccinations — after what happened with the last ones I would definitely want specialists dealing with it. I can understand, also, how it would be difficult to trust your pedi after this. Hopefully you’ll either become comfortable with them again or find another one you feel you can trust.
I’ll definitely drop you an email sometime soon. I’m off to pick up the little man from school. I like to have him shorter days there in the summer when I’m able since the school years are always so crazy. So…it’s tricycle and t-ball time for me now.
“Talk” to you soon…Christine

InactiveAnn Marie – i tried again!! I will post here otherwise… let me know.
Christine – well, i can tell you that my mom is 5’4, my dad must be around 5’10 and my brother is…. 6’4!! (I am only 5’5 and my sister is around 5’4 so go figure!!). So it is possible he will be that tall!

InactiveOMG, Thais. I did receive it, and I can only say that we are so lucky… I don’t even know what to say right now but that my heart goes out to that family……. I felt the urge to respond by e-mail to them, but felt guilty because our outcome was so different. Even if there are residual effects, it will be nothing like this family’s outcome.
June 29, 2006 at 4:36 pm #10807Anonymous
InactiveI will be praying that there are no residuals effects (think of me!!)… and will include Carter to my list of little ones!

InactiveThe first time I read about that family, my heart broke. I’ve never thought about vaccinations in the same way (I don’t think most people even know that kind of thing can happen). I’m glad to hear that Carter is doing well and hope that the immunologist can give you some guidance as to how to proceed with future vaccinations.

InactiveAnn Marie – I am so sorry to hear this, but I am glad that Carter is ok now. I was thinking about you and Carter the other day, because I remember you said that he had UTI and was going to do VCUG, I hope everything went well.
On you original post, you mentioned that you learned a valuable lesson, I understand what you mean. Over the past year or so, Brian has been to all kind of procedure, test, and specialist, I have learned that I really need to stay on the top of the game, in order to prevent any mistake which can harm my child (we had terrible experience during two procedure, but it was not life threatening).
Hug to you and Carter.
June 30, 2006 at 9:39 am #10850Anonymous
InactiveThanks, Sharon. VCUG was normal. So no abnormality, just a regular UTI.
It is really sad when we can’t even trust the nurses in our dr’s office to know how to use their thermometers. I am sorry you have the same doubt I do. It does make things really hard.
Wishing you the best for you and family!
Ann Marie
