InactiveI need help ladies. I have been spending way too much money on groceries and I am looking for cheap healthy recipes. I think our bill is so expensive because we eat meat with every meal. So, I would love some no meat dinner recipes. Oh, we can’t do cheese or beef, but instead add cheese later for dh and older ds and do ground turkey. Thanks for any and all replies.

InactiveHow about eggs…like a quiche with turkey bacon and spinach, and maybe add cheese for those who can have it?
I’ve been spending way too much on groceries too, and once Dagney’s back on Nutramigen in a few weeks, the bills will only get higher, so I’d be up for some cheap, quick, tastey meal ideas too!

InactiveI’m not sure how to make quiche without the cheese. Maybe I will have to look up a recipe for that. Thanks that is a great idea. Oh, and I am sorry you are having to buy nutramigen. We used that for my older son and whew that stuff is expensive.

InactiveWe do a lot of pasta and salads around here…you would think we were Italian! And we love taco salads…I can’t remember who posted that thread today or yesterday but we do it with ground chicken bc we aren’t beef eaters and its delicious and cheap! Plus we add a lot of fresh veggies to it! We also eat chicken cassaroles with canned chicken (cheap and some good recipes on allrecipes.com…just replace chicken breast with canned chicken bc its cheaper or maybe ground turkey but I don’t know about that bc I do not eat turkey either).

Inactivehere is something I do to help with the cost of our meat meals, but keep them healthy…i use boneless skinless chicken thigh/drumsticks instead of breast. It is usually several dollars less a lb, and the fat content is still not that high, plus the flavor is much more filling. Oh and for eggs you could do omlets with just veggies in them…eggs are super cheap. And beans and rice is another good no meat option.

InactiveI’m with Emily. I use chicken probably more often than I should. We’re not big meat eaters in our house (mainly thanks to me). I make chicken cutlets and if I have extra, I cut it up and throw them in a salad (tastes pretty good) or/and mix it with pasta (languini).
