InactiveYIKES! Not that Ben takes a bottle, but I still have the ones I used with Claire!!!! Out they go for sure. I would heat her breastmilk in them and used a steam sterilizer too. BOOOOO!

InactiveYes, I LOVE her steam sterilizer! Now I know I’d better toss it (but I’m having a hard time letting go)…

InactiveI just tried using the Evenflo Drop Ins bottle for Addy. We were big Dr Brown’s fans before! She would not take it at all….but she’s been use to the same type of bottle for 10 months now!

Inactiveugh. i bought the gerber bottles.. and the silicone nuks to go with it because i dont like the latex.
what did i do wrong? the nuk looks like it is wayyy to long for the bottle. and it takes him forever to get 2 ounces out.. and its the medium flow!

InactiveLauren, is Shane on thickened feeds? If so, that may be why he is having a hard time getting stuff out…
Before switching Hailey to the Dr. Brown’s bottles, we tried every bottle on the market. For those of you switching from Dr. Brown’s, a good option might be the playtex disposable nurser. It has a wide neck, and you use a new drop in each time, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Only thing I hated about them was that you couldn’t mix the formula in the bottle.
Good luck. We’re not going to switch, just buy new ones. Though I am kind of worried.

Inactivenoo.. we havnt thickened in a while.. though he is on fast ones with the avent.

InactiveTrace is only on number 2 on avent. and we also thicken…
so maybe he will do okay with the gerber medium flow? grrr how did shane do with the skinny neck after being used to avents wide neck?
Trace HATED the playtex disposables because he collapsed the nipples. also, i hated them cause you cant mix the formula in them.
ugh.,March 1, 2007 at 7:55 pm #26277Anonymous
Inactiveyou have to hold the top , like squeeze it together and shake..
and he liked it a lot i think.. i think it reminded him of his paci
what other bottles could i try if this one didnt work.. i couldnt find any evenflos.. and i saw a playtex disposable and the nipples kinda look like these ones..
i guess i will try and find a fast nipple. how long does it take tracy to finish a bottle with the stage 2’s? i tried stage 3’s with shane and it took like 10 or 12 minutes! with his stage 4’s it takes like 5 to 7 minutes.

Inactivewith Trace, you know, i dont even time it, i just know that i tried a faster nipple a few months ago and he choked. so yeah.

InactiveLauren,
The silicone nipples tend to be slower than the latex nipples. Maybe a fast flow would work for him. I bought some Gerber bottles tonight too….and the mediums were much slower for Myles than the Dr. Brown’s stage 2’s, so I will buy some fast flows the next time I go out. It took him much longer to finish his bottle tonight too. 15 minutes instead of his usual 5-7 minutes.
I’m sick about this too. I though if you didn’t actually heat these bottles inside the microwave that they were safe. I’ve been storing days worth of milk in these stupid dr. brown bottles, some of which I’ve had since Ellie was a baby
AND I’ve been heating the heck out of them in the dry cycle on our dishwasher. It just makes me so mad that they can get away with using poisonous substances to make baby bottles.
Thanks Natalia for the information.
It makes me mad but I’d rather know than not know.
I love Trace’s new pic. He sure is growing up!ndrose2007-3-1 21:9:18

Inactivehas anyone used the playtex disposables? are they any good? and christine.. did your silicone nuk nipple fit funny on the gerber bottle? its like really really long right?

InactiveNatalia…Trace is soooo cute. What an adorable little man
OK. I am going out to buy some new bottles. Mine have scratches and stuff. Don’t know that we get Gerber here. I’ll see what I find. I have six bottles…no way can I afford to replace all of them. Looks like more washing for me!!!!

yes i despised those. the nipples collapse and i cant shake formula in them..they are just a pain in the arse. are you not liking the gerbers you got? have you tried a fast flow nipple?

Inactiveyes, sometimes ignorance is bliss!
I didn’t even know there were numbers on the bottom of things but I checked a lot of them last night. His favorite Elmo plate/bowl is a 3! It makes me so mad. We used the Avent bottles too. I guess what is done is done but I will definitely be more careful going forward. Mom2Seth2007-3-2 10:24:9 -
