My daughter is 2.5 months old and on 7.5mg solutab of prevacid three times per day. She is still having some very upset times where she appears to me in pain. I have read on here about giving them the cherry supreme mylanta. We bought some tonight. Can I get clarification on administering it? I have read in other threads that it must be spaced 4 hours from a PPI. Does this mean 4 hours after and 4 hours before a dose? So if I am giving a prevacid dose at 8:30am, 3:30pm, and 10:30pm the only time I could use the mylanta would be during the night?

yes. you do not want the mylanta to ‘cancel’ out the prevacid…

That would be correct. Another option would be to give the baby the prevacid in 2 doses 7.5mg in the a.m and 15mg in the p.m and then if you needed the mylanta you could use it easier. We always gave our last dose of Prevacid around 5:30p so that if he needed something before he went to bed then there we could give it. Also I read somewhere that giving the PPI after a certain time at night isn’t good b/c the stomach stops putting out acid at a certain time… or something like that amy0013 could probably explain it better that me! LOL!

according to Dr Phillips is can b spaced 2 hrs apart from a delayed release PPI..
