InactiveWell, Bryce goes in to have his cleft palate repaired tomorrow. We’ve been through 3 surgeries with him already, but it’s still so scary! I know it’s the best thing for him though. I’m glad we’re getting it done now before it starts affecting his speech. Hopefully it will help his feeding issues as well (although I think most of his problems have been caused by the reflux). I’m hoping also that he will learn to suck a bottle. They told us that with a cleft it is like sucking through a straw with a hole in it.
So we’re driving up to Salt Lake City tonight and he’ll go in tomorrow sometime. Supposedly he’ll have to stay for 3 days. So after today I’ll probably be gone until Monday!
Wish us luck! And I’d definitely appreciate any prayers!!

Thank you all for all the support and advice you’ve given me the last few months!Bryce’sMom 2006-10-26 13:52:24 October 26, 2006 at 1:53 pm #16640Anonymous

He’s been through so much already. I will certainly keep him in my prayers. Please let us know how he does when you all get home.

InactiveWell we’re back sooner than expected and surgery went great! They were 1 1/2 hours late getting him in so he had to go 15 hrs without food yesterday before the surgery!!! But he didn’t even cry once! I couldn’t believe it. The surgery was quicker than expected – only two hours and it all went really well. Obviously he’s been in some pain
. He had morphine over night and they sent us home with tylenol w/ codine, but they said the majority of his pain should be gone by tomorrow. I’m just so relieved to have it all over with! He did so well and has been so strong for such a little guy. Thank you all so much for your prayers. I know they helped.

InactiveI’m so glad to hear that all went well and that you’re back home again. What a little trooper! Hopefully the tylenol with codeine will help with the pain but watch out- they’re notorious for causing constipation so you might want to give a bit more fibre or something if he seems to be getting backed up.

InactiveYes, we’ve been told about the constipation, but between the goat’s milk and the microlipids that he takes he has really really loose stools, so maybe it’ll even things out.
I’ll keep an eye on it though. -
