Okay my son is 7 and half months and has been on Gaviscon and ranitidine since 6 weeks old for silent Reflux.
When we were on holiday mid september i ran out of Ranitidine, he seemed to be okay for the two remaining days of our holiday, so when i got home i picked up the prescription but thought…hey maybe he doesnt need it anymore , lets see how he goes, a week passed, all good, so i thought lets try him without the Gaviscon. Now he was fine for 2 weeks …. although his poops are much runnier…i thought thats okay…Gaviscon thickens the stools, so no Gaviscon = runnier nappies. BUT in the past week he has drastically reduced his milk feeds ( we are BLW and he isn’t actually consuming ANY solids at all yet ) , he fusses on the bottle, arches his back and has also started being considerably grumpy after his feeds, burping hours after and looking uncomfy and also regurgitating hours after feeds ( only small amounts tho )
So i thought stomach bug and have to pop a stool sample to the GP.
BUT this is just how he was prior to going on the meds so i am now thinking maybe he needs back on them?
Has anyone else had delayed symptoms after stopping meds?
I assumed i would know pretty instantly if he was no longer needing them.
Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance for any opinions advice
