constant cramping

Hi all!

My little girl is 4 months old and it has been a roller coaster ever since – she’s had all sorts of issues.

Currently she has neutropenia and anemia so she receives weekly shots to try to boost her immunity. I was unable to breastfeed due to a reduction several years ago and I just feel so badly for her – she absolutely couldn’t have dairy and has been on soy since.

My question: She did ok with it for about a month and a half – constipation for the most part – but her tummy handled it. Is it possible for a major intolerance to occur after she’s been on it for this long? She has constant (I mean constant) cramping – since the beginning of January.

I’m so scared b/c they may do genetic testing for ‘schwackman diamond syndrome’ a rare blood disorder. One thing mentioned is cramping. I know reflux (which she also has) causes this, but I don’t think it’s related.

Anyone else have major cramping occur w/ their baby b/c of an intolerance?

Oh, I forgot to add that she has her 4 month next week and I believe the doctor will put her on neocate – i hope – it’s the last resort. If that doesn’t work – then I’m so afraid she may have this disease – I just wish they’d do the genetic testing right away so we would know. She’s on pancreatic enzymes to see if that helps – for about a week – same symptoms.

the proteins can build up, and it can take two weeks to a month (thereabouts) for them to build up, so it could be the soy?

but iron is constipating, too (as you know)…

does baby need medicine?

Thank you for that bit of info – very interesting.

Callie started Neocate yesterday and had a great day other than turning her nose up at the bottle a good bit – but she seemed more relaxed. She threw up one bottle this morning and has started to fuss w/ gas pains – ugh. I wonder if some gas drops would help a touch. I thought we found the answer – however – I hear it takes them awhile to adjust? Is that correct? I’m probably posting in the wrong thread, here – I imagine this has been discussed in another one (elecare, neonate info?).

Anyway, she’s just moaning and has a hard belly w/ diarrhea this morning I hope it all subsides and she adjusts? If this doesn’t work – then – wow – I have no idea what she needs.

Oh, I just noticed your ? about her needing medicine? She is on prevacid for her reflux…..
