InactiveI need to make roast potatoes to bring to dh’s family dinner tomorrow. After I put them in the roasting pan with all the seasoning, do I need to cover them with aluminum foil? None of the recipes say to do it, but I wasn’t sure.
(Yes, I’m very embarrased… not the greatest cook

InactiveI’m not the best cook either, but I would follow the recipe. Any time I’ve made roasted potatoes, I just quarter them, coat with olive oil, and sprinkle with seasoning and cook in the oven (400 for 30-40min. or so). I’m not sure what type you are making though.

InactiveI have absolutely no advice, but I’m just glad to see that I’m not the only who has to ask questions like this.

InactiveGosh, Amy. I wish I had someone to snag food from. I don’t like cooking much, especially when my food is being judged. Also, I don’t celebrate Christmas, so making food for holiday meals is tricky.

InactiveI hear ya! I don’t like to cook in general, let alone when other people will be eating it! I hope your potatoes turn out wonderful! Good luck – sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

InactiveThanks for the advice. They turned out great and were really simple too. Next time I’ll have to try a turkey. I’ve always wanted to try one but have to admit that I’m scared of sticking of my hand inside and having to pull things out, and dh’s family would know if I bought a prestuffed butterball.

Inactivei once cooked a turkey with the giblets still inside.
lori — do you celebrate hanukah? just curious, hope not too personal…we do both in this house because my husband was brought up catholic. hannah is fascinated with the menorah and the tree…so she likes them both…

InactiveMy sister once cooked the bird with the giblets, so you’re not the only one, Becky!! Another time she was preparing to cook the turkey and reached in to get the giblets (didn’t want to make that mistake again), and out came the decapitated turkey head! Her blood curdling scream brought us all running. My poor sister.

I cooked a terrific turkey breast this year. So much easier than the whole bird!

Glad your potatoes turned out well, Lori!

Keymasterchiming in to say i cooked the giblets too in the bag & had to call the 1 800 number to make sure the bag didn’t poison/ruin the whole bird!

InactiveWe celebrate Hanukkah here. My sister celebrates Christmas so we usually
go to her house that night too but not for presents. My close friend has 2.5
year old twin boys and they now call it Ha-ka-ka. Too cute!
