and i also have a can of the powder here as well, and the ingredients are different, instead of “corn maltodextrin” mine says “corn syrup”.
weird.

It does usually indicate allergies, but it’s not always food allergies. I found that dairy was a big culprit with my children but they all outgrew that between 9-15 months of age. They all still get eczema from time to time and it’s usually related to environmental things like laundry soaps, or bath soaps. I have to use free and clear laudry soaps and I only use Dove Unscented bar soap for their baths. It’s not as convenient as the baby liquid soaps but it really helps to keep their outbreaks to a minimum.

Nutramigen RTF – 70% of carbs in formula are from corn solids/syrup
Nutramigen podwer – 86% ” “
Alimentum RTF – Corn Free!
Enfamil has two corn-free products – Enfamil AR RTF and Enfacare Lipil
Maybe I should try the Alimentum RTF??? Except – here’s my question – could his rash be a corn issue when all of the other formulas didn’t cause the rash???Maybe it’s just because the Neocate/Elecare has more corn?????

The person I spoke with said the difference between the two was the corn maltodextrin. I also know at the time both the RTF and powder for Nutramigin had corn syrup solids and modified corn starch. When we tried both of these he continued with blood in his stool.
Not sure if they changed something because he hasn’t used it since April/May?

Sorry you got your post in while I had started mine.

Kaelyn had mild eczema for the first year of her life. It got worse when we added milk and wheat products to her diet and went out of control when we added whole milk. So, the greater concentration of an allergen could definitely trigger something like that. Unfortunately, it could also be totally unrelated. That’s what’s so tough about figuring these things out.
