InactiveSarah has been doing very well on our dairy trial. We’re doing 3-4 oz of whole milk everyday. It’s been 10 days and so far so good! I plan to increase the oz. towards the end of this week. Sarah has been eating grilled cheese, cheese crackers, yogurt daily, cheese ravioli, etc…I bought some cottage cheese at the store yesterday because I thought it would be another good food for her to try. Should I wait until I’m completely confident in our milk trial (meaning she has 10+ ounces a day) or do you think she’ll be fine with it since she does cheese and yogurt so well? Any thoughts?
I know it sounds stupid, but I don’t eat cottage cheese so I never buy it and frankly don’t know anything about it! Is it a breakfast food? Lunch? Snack? I have no clue!!!

InactiveI don’t know about when to introduce it to her, but I am not a big fan of cottage cheese (texture issue), but many people eat it with fruit like peaches or pinapple. I tend to eat it with baked Lays… which I know is strange. But you can eat it anytime. It is a great protein source.

Inactivehey amy, thats is sooo great that she is doing so well! i would think cottage cheese would be fine.. its kinda like the same category as yogurt. .. and yep most people do it alone or with some fruit. i dont like it either;) .. but a lot of kids love it. g’luck w/ it!!

InactiveThat is so wonderful she is doing great! I think 10 days would be enough of a trial – especially since you are using milk in addition to hidden milk. I would try ice cream!!!
So happy for you!!!!!!!!!!July 5, 2007 at 2:58 pm #38639Anonymous
InactiveI agree that cottage cheese should be fine if she is tolerating yogurt and cheese OK…but I wouldn’t be too surprised if Sarah doesn’t like it…Brianna made the funniest face the first time I gave it to her. Good luck!

Keymasterwe go through a lot of ricotta cheese here.
I tend to look at the % of calcium in everything & whole milk ricotta (compare the various brands) has 15% per serving…I also look at the %of calcium when buying ravioli, etc…just my 2 centsoops forgot to tell you what I do w/ the ricotta, lolI mix it in w/ fruit (babyfood puree) and yogurtI mix it in w/ noodles & olive oil & milk (makes a yummy cream sauce)I get creative and mix it into all kinds of things
– you never know until you try it, what a baby will eat/like
with jonah, I was so scared of reflux & tomatoes that I used to use babyfood carrots as a tomato sauce w/ noodles and yep, I’d mix the ricotta in there…sounds gross to us, but he gobbled it up
I am paranoid about calcium bcse jonah didn’t like drinking milk & it seems that Ari doesn’t either
, so I want to make sure that he gets calcium from other sources…hellbennt2007-07-05 19:33:54
