are you making sure your son is perfectly upright when you feed him? My son’s back had to be perfectly straight up and down with his head tilted way back to feed him. If I didn’t have his head tilted back or if his back wasn’t perfectly vertical – he’d choke and vomit. The fact that he has a upper respitory infection leads me to suspect he may be aspirating. Some babies have Laryngomalacia and/or tracheomalacia (very common in ea/tef babies, but non-ea/tef babies get it too). If your baby had a barium swallow, you’d be able to see the milk spraying into the lungs – if that’s whats happening. The “malacias” are just soft, underdeveloped airways that strengthen on their own by the time the child turns 2 years old. No surgery is needed. But if your son has re-occuring respitory infections you should see a pulminologist and he/she can put your son on “preventative meds” to help the secretions/mucus not get stuck in their airways. Sorry, I just dumped a lot of info on you. Just trying to let you know about all the possible causes besides allergies, etc.
I also wanted to add that Zantac just blocks the acid, you may want to try a PPI like Prevacid or Prilosec that shuts down acid pumps. My son did horribly on zantac, and as soon as he started taking prevaid, his reflux improved significantly.
