Inactivejust wondering if any of you do much selling on ebay. do you do it on a regular basis? if you do it on a regular basis, how much do you figure, on average, you can make in extra income for a month? i have had 2 local gals tell me that if they did it on a regular basis, they were able to make about $1000 a month. i think that they sold things that they picked up mostly at thrift stores and yard sales.

Inactivei sold a lot of baby things when i was desperate for cash. i still am though. i am too nervous about going and buying things at thrift stores, bc i would be worried they wouldnt sell.
a friend of mine, though, makes 1-2 grand on ebay a month. he goes to thift stores and flea markets and knows how to find good antiques and things that are worth a lot-me on the other hand, i would have no clue!

InactiveI have sold some of my maternity clothes and Sarah’s items. Sometimes I do really well…sometimes I’m disappointed that things don’t sell for as much as I hoped. My sitter had a garage sale last weekend and put the remaining items on ebay (mostly baby clothes) and made over $200! I think it’s a great way to make a little extra cash but you have to have the time to shop at thrift stores (if you’re trying to make a business), time to list items, time to package and mail items, and the space to keep everything organized. Those were the only downfalls I have found. Otherwise it’s great extra cash! Good luck!!!

InactiveI agree with Amy. I’ve sold a lot of things on ebay, and the only minus for me was keeping everything organized and getting it packaged and sent well!

InactiveI sold on ebay for awhile, but I think you’d make more money if you found one particular product that sold well or maybe some related products and made an ebay store – rather than the thrift store thing. It’s kind of a hit or miss thing with selling thrift store items unless you really know what sells, like Natalia said.

ME TOO
I keep some of my stuff (just in case
) but regularly put the extras, clothes etc, on ebay. I don’t really mind how much I get, but I usually do better than I thought I would.May 18, 2007 at 9:49 am #33655Anonymous
InactiveI have sold baby formula, when he was done with it, and an MP3 player that I got as a gift that I didn’t want. Also, sold a Ruth’s Chris Steak House gift card, becasue I knew I would probably never get there. I have always done very well, but it could definitely be another full time job for someone. I have thought about seliing Brodie’s clothes and my maternity clothes, but if they don’t sell, you still have to pay some fees. It is fun, though. I agree that it is probably the most successful if you start a business, like printing invitations, I just had some picture invitations done on ebay for Brodie’s birthday party.

KeymasterI think if you could find popular brands (children’s clothing) at thrift stores like hanna anderson or gymboree or ralph lauren etc etc then you’d do well…

Inactivelaura—i wondered about that—i regularly go into a thrift store whenever i go to the other end of town, so it is not something new i would have to add into my life. i sometimes see beautiful name-brand children’s clothing—-but it is not the right size for my kids. i imagine i would probably have to collect a certain amount in various sizes before i listed them. when i have checked on ebay, it seems to be the lots of clothing that do the best.

Inactivehi christine–my sister and i have done VERY well on ebay. of course, there are times when you do better than others, but overall i’m very happy.
certain brands sell very well….definitely name brands that you know wash and wear well, ’cause most of these things are used. people really shop for gap, gymboree, ralph lauren, tommy hillfiger, limited too, etc. nike brands also sell very well. i suggest you go on ebay and type in certain brands and see how well those brands are selling and for how much. my sister found that canada and australia LOVE our jeans!!! she made great money on that.
another thing that is very lucrative is shoes, again nike being a great seller. we wait for sales at dillards (don’t know if you have them where you live), and then buy them out of the shoes we know sell. gotta get there quick, ’cause that’s something a lot of people do. again, we made fabulous money doing this. so nice to be able to contribute to the household without having to actually leave and take away tons of time from family!!
if you have any questions about how to set things up, little tricks i can offer you to help you get the most bang for your buck, don’t hesitate to ask. take care!

InactiveI have tons of things that I would love to get rid of!! IS there a tutorial that tells you how to sell on Ebay?

Inactivei sell both, christine. for instance, i would do a lot of jeans in the same size. i would sell individual outfits when i have something particularly nice, like a cute little dress with matching sweater or something.
