InactiveSince Ariella will be 18 months when this baby’s born, I need to start researching the double strollers available on the market. Anyone use any strollers they can suggest? I know there are some that separate and become two separate strollers. Any suggestions?

InactiveSarah was 18 months when Hailey was born. I’m a big fan of the peg perego double strollers. We bought a used Tender (which is tandem style) and I loved it b/c it can accomodate a carseat. But it has near no basket space. They now have an aria twin that will take a carseat I’ve heard- very lightweight, good basket space, and folds up small. It’s side by side. I know a few people who use it. If they had it available when I was looking it’s probably what I would have gone for. But, I think the main thing is to decide if you want tandem or side by side. They both have their advantages- tandem is good for when the baby is smaller so the toddler doesn’t bother the sleeping baby, and tends to have wider seats, and fits easier in stores. But it’s kind of like driving a bus. And the side by side is nice as the little one gets older. I have a tandem and now wish I had a side by side. You guys are lucky in that you have a lot of options available in the US. We only had pretty much the graco duoglider which wouldn’t accomodate Sarah or the peg ones. Good luck. Try them out before you buy and make sure that they’ll fit in the car and accomodate your car seat.

InactiveOf course I have a suggestion!
Kaden was just over 2 when landen arrived. We went to http://www.albeebaby.com and ordered the graco duoglider LXI with the graco snugride carseat for Landen. I love the duoglider b/c I need everything with my stroller. I need a big basket, cupholders, room for baby’s things, etc. I really liked the McClaren side by sides and things like that, but realized I would hate it b/c i wouldnt have all of the things I needed with those kinds of strollers. I got a brown/green print in my stroller, but I noticed some of the colors are on sale right now.
Another tip when looking is check the weight limits on them. Every time I found a side by side it would say for babies 6 months and up (so it wouldn’t have worked for landen right away) and up to 30lbs (so kaden would have never fit). My duoglider fits a newborn and goes up to like 40lbs I think.
Good luck. It took me such a long time to decide on one.October 18, 2007 at 10:41 am #44409Anonymous
InactiveI can count currently we have 6 strollers for only 2 kids! I just could not seem to find the right one! Anyways, we have 2 double strollers, I got the Graco Duoglider when Taylor was born since it fit the Snugride carrier that we had previously from Alexis, it worked really well when Taylor was in the carrier. It is just really big, heavy, and like Lori mentioned driving a bus! We use it still once in a while, such as trips to the zoo since it has the big basket and the cup holder/tray for the kids so I can put their snacks in the tray while we walk around the zoo, and the back seat reclines the entire way down so Taylor can sleep, unfortunately the front seat really does not recline to a layiny down position so hard for the one in front to sleep. We went on a little road trip in September so I got the Inglesina twin swift stroller which is lightweight side by side, like an umbrella version for 2. Very light, nice basket, the girls love it, but they do have to be older to be able to sit in this one. Bad things no tray or cup holder and does not recline and hard to fit in aisles at stores. Right now we mostly use the Peg Perego Pilko 3 which has a foot stand for Alexis since she is 3 y/o she is able to stand on the back and Taylor is in the actual stroller, it is a great option for us since Alexis is older now. Inglesina has a nice double stroller called the Domino, I could not find a store that carried it for me to actually try it out. Good Luck!

InactiveWe have the Graco duoglider. I love the basket and the cup holders, but it is pretty bulky. It was pretty easy to push when Kaelyn was 2 and Alex was an infant, but it’s pretty tough to push now that I’m pushing 50 pounds of children around!

InactiveLaura, this baby’s due in March and it’s still freezing in NYC around that time of year. I don’t know how much I’ll be carrying the baby in a wrap outside of the house but I’d love to use it at home since I have a feeling Ariella will become even more demanding and I’ll need my hands.
