DS In Terrible Pain!

Since starting the prevacid my 12v week old ds is in terrible pain, gassy and VERRY fussy. He’s worse then ever. Feedingsare ther same with crying but i cannot get ahold of my pedi to find out whats wrong. he’s hardly slept the past 2 nights. When he does its only in my arms. We’re doing half a packet of prevacid that you disolve in 30 ccs of water. terrible stuff. messy and hard to judge the dosage. please help@!

We had success with the packets, but others have reported similar reaction to what you are describing. Could be that he is not doing well with the flavoring, or it is just too much for him. Can you try the doc again and ask for another form of the med?

Also, can you ask for a referral to the ped gi? They might be better equipped to help you.

Maybe ask for Zegerid. The Prevacid Solutabs contain lactose which bother a lot of babies, so you may not want to try that. I’ve haven’t read any complaints yet about Zegerid.

I’m sorry he’s huring so much I hope you find the answer quickly.

I’m STILL waiting for a phone call back from the dr. He FINALLY pooped and I think he feels better but I’ve just been giving him zantac, which isn’t much help, and stopped the prevacid for now. We see the new GI dr Monday but is he in pain or something? He does have MSPI so I don’t know what else there is?

I’ve heard the Prevacid can cause tummy cramps and gas temporarily
while adjusting – so maybe he’d feel better after a week? But at this
point can’t wait until Monday since you are seeing a new doctor. Hope
he feels better soon.
