Hi all,

My son is a year old and just had the upper GI done with normal results. He was dx with reflux at 5 mo old and has been on prevacid solutabs since then. He doesn’t sleep well and is still getting up several times a night. He has 1-2 reflux attacks still per week. We are going in for the PH and endoscopy in 2 weeks but I am beginning to get scared abt. putting him under. It scares the crap out of me that something could happen to him. Any words of advice? I’m also unsure of how to have him not eat for 8 hrs in a row. He gets up to nurse for comfort several times a night while he is refluxing. HELP! need experienced advice.

I can’t help w/ the procedures but have a few questions:

two things jumped out at me from your post- your baby is now a year and also he’s not sleeping-
sleep can be affected by MSPI – have you introduced milk? has sleeping gotten worse since then?


solutabs: taking them on an empty stomach, follwed by a ‘meal’ 30 minutes later?

Not really familiar with the endoscopy or ph since we didn’t do them, but is he waking out of habit? My lo took a middle of the night feeding until he was 10 months old but that was more out of habit than hunger for him. What time is his test? I would feed him as late as possible to hit the 8hr window and then just probably deal with a cranky child until the test is complete. Maybe someone else who has had the tests done will be more helpful. Good Luck.
