InactiveOk-home from endoscopy and part one went well. Reflux totally under control (while still on prevacid solutabs) and no damage or ulcers. So that’s good. We will probably get EE biopsies on Friday and she took 6 to be sure. Ian handled it like a champ. Throat hurts right now and one vomit when we got home but they say both of those are very normal (especially since he had anesthesia through a mask). In good spirits though. We’re just on pins and needles now…GI is still at a loss over bottles going down so is guessing behavioral.
Will update later. Thanks everyone for well wishes.

InactiveSo glad to hear it!!! Yea for reflux under control and no damage. Glad
she took 6 biopsies and definitely keep us posted on that end. I really
think he may have had a similar virus to M – her bottles went way down,
she was cranky, sleeping a ton, etc – but now she’s back to eating like
a horse and playing and all. You said he ate really well yesterday,
right?May 23, 2006 at 8:35 pm #8523Anonymous

Good news! I’m so happy to hear that there is no damage or ulcers. I hope Ian’s sore throat improves quickly. Poor little guy.May 23, 2006 at 9:14 pm #8526Anonymous

InactiveGlad it went well. My Gi told me they can see the EE cells most of the time (there is inflammation) so i hope it means he is fine!

InactiveSo glad that the reflux isnt causing any pain, that is a relief. Hope the other tests are good to and you can get things back on track.

InactiveThanks again for all the warm words!!
Last night was pretty awful-Ian woke up alot (can’t blame him poor thing-didn’t eat much yesterday and his throat is still bothering him-lots of coughing). Then we woke up this morning to bottle refusal and a big screaming fit. Sounds almost like bubbles or cracking in his chest/throat right now ( I love to be descriptive-don’t I?). I can hear the mucous. But again, we’re not worried. I think this is normal for the process and hopefully today feeds will be better than yesterday and continue from there.
Thais-thanks for insight as we’ll take all the encouragment we can get-we’re trying to be positive too because it looked good yesterday, but we are soooo self protective right now. As you all know, the minute you say things are going great…WHAM!
Step backwards to move step forwards.

InactiveI’m sorry to hear about the rough night but hopefully it will be better
today and much better tomorrow. If he’s got a lot of mucous maybe stick
with Pedialyte this morning so as not to add dairy on top of mucous?Hang in there with the Maryland trip. Try to just let it go in one ear
and out the other (easier said than done, I know). Ian is so cute and I
think coming along really nicely – he was playing great in the
exersaucer at Thais’ and is so friendly. He’s eating his squash and
bananas well and once you know what’s going on, can continue on that
front.Big hugs – let us know how he’s feeling today. When do you get results back from the biopsies?

InactiveTracy,
I agree with Karen regarding the trip. We have to look at our refluxers (and all of our children) in light of their own life circumstances, and try not to compare them to others. I know this is very hard, and something I struggle with all the time. Try to have a good time if you can. Ian will get through this, and will do everything when the time is right for him.
Hope he feels better soon.
