InactiveMy 7.5 month old is doing well with pureed foods and is starting to grab the spoon when I feed him. I am interested in starting some finger foods, but I am hesitant because of his reflux.
Is there anything that I should be cautious of when I start to introduce finger foods to my little guy? Any suggestions on what foods to start with? He also has MSPI.Thanks!December 11, 2009 at 9:14 pm #65064hellbennt

InactiveI guess what my delima is… finding easy finger foods that do not have soy in them. All the gerber puffs and gerber foods have soy.
I am thinking about starting with some cut up fruit like a banana or pear.I am afraid to do something like cheerios yet because they are so crunchy and hard to chew, but at least they are soy free.I tried to give him some cut up green beans last night and he just spit it out… I don’t think he likes green beans anyway, so that probably wasn’t a good start.December 14, 2009 at 5:06 pm #65117hellbennt
Keymasterhe’s 8 months? can he reach out and grab chunks of food and put them in his mouth?
I used to steam apple chunks and then roll them in crushed cheerios so that they weren’t slippery…banana is great! I gave Ari a whole banana to play with (covered the high chair seat w/ a garbage bag!)- whatever he managed to get in his mouth was fine, lol.

Inactivei think the gerber puffs only have soy oil in them.. which should be fine!
and the first couple foods we did were.. banana pieces.. avocado.. cococut yogurt.. and sweet potato chunks …and at target there are an organic line of puffs that are amazing..December 15, 2009 at 8:40 am #65127Anonymous
Inactivethanks for the suggestions! We will definitely try some of these and see what works for our little guy.

Inactivedon’t forget puffed rice cereal…the sweet potato gerber puffs were safe for landen, even with MSPI…the soy oil didn’t bother him. 🙂 I am not sure about those Jumbo Rice Krispies. I’ve seen them in the store, but not sure about ingredients. You could check the box! Landen loved apple & sweet potato chunks. You could try banana (landen is intolerant to it)

InactiveI tried some of the organic puffs but he gagged on them (even when I cut them in half). It might be too early yet for the finger foods. I’ll wait and try again later.
