InactiveHello! My little sweetie Ainslie is 7 12 months old. I have been visitng this board since she was 6 weeks old when she decided to quit nursing. She would latch yank off and scream her eyes out and we repeated this all day until she was so hungry and tired that should would finally eat while sleeping.
And there our journey began. This is my first time posting because I just do not know what to do anymore and am so tired of this.We started out on zantac. No change. Had an upper GI that showed near immediate reflux. Pediatrician started her on Prevacid sloutab 7.5mg once a day. No change. In fact she went from a silent refluxer to vomiting alot. I eliminated everything form my diet ( I was literally eating 5 foods) No change. In fact congestion and mucus in stool was at its all time worst. Prevacid up to 15mg, she started vomiting worse than ever. Then she had an EGD. Esophagus normal so our wonderful(insert eye roll) GI doctor said she did not need medication it was all food allergy related and to start Alimentum ( disater) and then Neocate. We had patch testing and rast testing at allergist and is was all negative.By this time I was tired of pumping to keep my supply and feeding her round the clock and eating nothing all while trying to raise my 3 older boys too. So I started Neocate. Well the screaming, congestion, gas, stomach rumbling and mucus and blood in her stool did stop. But not the reflux. That just continued to get worse. The 4-6 month period she would throw up all the time. We started thickening with simply thick. Helped the vomiting a little.Well here we are at 712 months. My daughter will still only take her bottles when sleepy and relaxed. Refuses all solids. She is on Pepcid .5ml 2 times a day and I give Mylanta before many of her bottles. I am tired and feel like I am fighting a losing battle. we just left My pediatrician who I used for 11 years ( my oldest son is eleven) becasue she will not go against GI’s advice ( only one in town) and get her on a good dose of PPI. We are in feeding therapy but I know she is never going to eat if she is in pain and the therapist said so herself. Ainslie wants to eat reaches for the food..takes a bite winces, turns away and clamps her mouth shut…MEAL OVER.My new pediatricina is encouraging us to see a specilaist out of town and we are going to Dallas to do so. I am in Tulsa OKlahoma. It is a few weeks before we go so I want to get all my ducks in a row and that is why I am here to ask you guys some questions? What tests should I ask for? I personally would like a colonoscopy. Ainslie is on Elecare with simply thick to nectar consistency concentrated to 26 calories an ounce. She drinks 24 ounces a day. She weighs 17 pounds 4 ounces ( 50th percentile). She has no congestion, gas, stomach pain or exczema on this formula but after every poop she gets the anal ring. It goes away with zinc diaper cream but is back after the next poop. There is no other diapaer rash. I would love to know what is wrong with her gut if anything. I have no idea what formula we would even go to if the elcare is causing problems in her stomach She is such a happy baby except for eating. She literally never cries!Of course I want her on stronger meds! We tried the whole buffer babies thing when we were desperate but she cannot tolerate the sodium bicarb in it. We had a screaming mimi on our hands for days! For the most part she has stopped the projectile vomiting up every bottle. However she still refluxes. It will come up and she coughs and swallows it back down. I think this has just changed because she sits up and crawls now and better controls it. She only vomits now if she is gagging on solids when we try them.We have her on probiotics and I am contemplating the digestive enzyme thing. What else should I ask for. PLease give me all your thoughts. I truly am at my wits end and so depressed over this. I prayed for this little girl so hard asfter having three boys and I finally got her and it has not been a fun 7 12 months. Thanks in advance for your time!KellyApril 6, 2010 at 7:08 pm #66143hellbennt
