Frozen Breast Milk smells sour???

Hi needed to ask a question.

I have noticed this a couple of times with thawing out my breastmilk.

I thawed out breastmilk today dated 12/29/09. I have it in a side by side freezer in breastmilk bags and it seemed to smell a bit sour??

I am confused I thought I read that you can keep BM in freezer for up to 3mths!!

Anyone have any insight on this??

Hmmm…I seem to remember that this is a normal occurence in thawed breast milk and that it’s still OK to use.

I THINK Kelly Mom says 3-6mths for side by side freezer & 6-12 mths for deep freezer. I always keep my milk in the deep freezer (for the most part) & I think it always kind of smells ‘sour’ too when it thaws. Definitely check out kelly mom though (or askdrsears.com) b/c they both are great bf’ing resources!!!
