Inactivewell, I am not doing too well. I was really proud of myself yesterday because I went to the grocery store at lunch and stocked up on healthy things to keep here at the office so I would eat in more and not be too tempted to binge on the endless supply of junk food and I did really good but today… I made a rice milk run at Whole Foods during lunch and although I did make me a fresh salad to eat, I could not resist their bakery. I ended up getting a double chocolate chip cookie with icing in the middle that was half dipped in chocolate and ate the whole thing. I feel so gross now! So, I’ll get back on track tonight by eating a healthy dinner and going for a walk………

InactiveWhat in the world are double chocolate chip cookies with icing in the middle and half dipped in chocolate (YUM!) doing in a Whole Foods store. You see, it wasn’t your fault. It was sabotage.

InactiveTiffany, everyone enjoys a treat in modertation
. That was just your treat for this week. I read that “healthy eating plans” often go of the rails when we get guilty about eating somthing so say “bugger it” and just keep eating it. The “bad eating monster” just wasn’t happy with the healthy foods so wanted to excercise his influence…bad bad bad monster. But you are in control of him….make him suffer through an apple and see how he likes it…hheee he he he…..

InactiveI feel for you Tiffany! I was also “sabotaged” today…
When I got to work this morning and walked into my (shared) office, I walked right into a pot luck breakfeast filled with cookies and scones and muffins and all kinds of fruits and chocolatey things…. OH THE HORROR!!!!
I was very good and didn’t eat any of it!…until lunch… that’s when the CHEESECAKE (yes, cheesecake, my absolute favourite thing and ultimate weakness) came out of the fridge. I did really well as I munched on my salad and salmon that I brown bagged, but then all the umming and awwing just got to me and the smell was so yummy. I couldn’t take it and I caved and ate a piece. I felt SO awful about it that I nearly killed myself trying to climb 7 flights of stairs up to the unit afterwards.
sabotage, right? How can anyone resist cheesecake (or double chocolate chip dipped chocolate filled cookies!)?!!!
Why does there have to be so much junk food constantly around the office to taunt me?

InactiveI remember seeing a thing on TV about how one guy used mental imagery to use weight….instead of seeing cheesecake he saw a pile of worms…not so appetising. Gee it would take some will power….but he did lose a lot of weight!!!

Keymasterthat’s how it is in the amazing book “She’s Come Undone” by Wally Lamb !! it’s a great book!!

InactiveI like that book too- it’s a good idea, Therese, but no matter how hard I try, I just can’t get the chocolate to look like poo and the cheesecake to look like…. gosh, I love it so much that I can’t even think bad thoughts about it!!!

InactiveLori, you did better than I would have- I would have ate the goodies in the morning and the cheesecake!
I’ll have to check out the book but I don’t know if the imagery alone will be enough but I will try it! Sometimes I tell myself someone sneezed or spit on the food though as a deterrent. I am such a germ freak so you would think the fact alone that 20 people have had their hands on the food would be enough to keep me away ….

InactiveLOL Tiffany! About the book, it’s a fiction novel, not a dieting book. The main character in the story is overweight. s&h’s mum2007-4-19 12:22:18

InactiveI am confessing all in the hopes that it will inspire me to be better behaved tomorrow.

I had a McDonald’s cinnamon melt for breakfast. I decided to treat myself and then be really good for the rest of the day. But then I had a meeting that ended up turning into a lunch meeting, so I had a Subway sub and 2 cookies for lunch. Then dh decided that he’d rather have pizza and breadsticks for dinner than the chicken that I’d planned. So…. not one healthy meal all day. I’m a mess!
